Who is the most under-rated fighter in history? and who is the most over-rated, for me the most under-rated is Aaron Pryor, and the most over-rated is Roy Jones JR, these are just my oppinions, maybe you have seen one to many posts/threads, youtube highlight videos or HBO commentators over glorifying Pryor and think im wrong.
I think Pryor gets an appropriate amount of credit. RJJ isn't the most overrated, although he has his share of fans with blinders on. I can't comment on underrated, but I think one of the most overrated fighters is Foreman. Much more vulnerable than many opinions will concede.
Foreman between 1973-74 was pretty formidable,Davek. Not too many heavies could have beaten him in Zaire.
No doubt he was formidable, but I've come to the conclusion that he isn't worthy of the lofty rating he's had from me in the past and that he continues to get from others. He literally had zero defense. Many times, his offense won the day, but what happens when a guy has good movement and a good jab? What happens when he gets beat to the punch on the inside and the guy can get out?
He never really had a chance to answer those questions, the whole reason Ali beat him the way He did, was because Foreman was so good at cutting off the ring that Ali had to fight Him the way He did.
???? Arguably beat Ali and schooled foreman. Back that up with 2 wins over Lyle, a draw with Shavers and a split decision against Norton. It's not like he's rated in anyone's top 30 heavyweights of all time or rated highly H2H.
on the classic his fantasy fight record is 334-1. The lone loss came to another verision of jimmy young
Jimmy Bivins is incredibly underrated for me. His four year unbeaten stint was one of the best in history IMO
I think Ali's plan from the outset was to let Foreman unload and deflate; that's not a secret. That was my point. I answered Jimmy Young as an answer to the first quote. Not as an answer to being underrated or overrated. Young moved and boxed and made Foreman look foolish.
