He's just grouchy because no-one has suggested Riddick Bowe yet.

Absolutely not. Thank God. But better fighters than him who fared well against true world class weren't as impressive against the second tier. That's what got me worried.

The Duran adulation here is a bit like the support of Trump. Just as the majority of college educated Americans voting for someone who says that global warming is a Chinese hoax is baffling, so is the fact that the man responsible for quite possibly the most disgraceful quit job in the history of the sport is held as the golden standard of a true fighter.

He had insulted Leonard's wife, mocked Leonard when winning against him, but quit like a right spineless coward when it was clear he couldn't stop Leonard from comfortably outboxing him any other way.

Liston is another whose bad ass image gets him far too much of a pass for his conduct in the Ali fights, but that's another story.

With that said, I agree Duran is a good pick for one of the most complete ever.

    Hard to argue per Duran.

I'm a Liston fan tho and i reckon a helluva lot more was at stake than it was for Duran. That's for individuals to judge/guess for themselves tho and a wide range of stances are acceptable.

Duran's is a lot more plain cut.

I guess there's plenty of suspicion the fights were fixed, which is disgraceful in itself too but doesn't make the quittter a "spineless coward" but rather a shameless fraudster.

Haven't heard any such speculation or anyone involved claiming it. You have anything substantial?

Whoa... Duran was a HOF'er before he ever entered the ring in New Orleans. I don't quite see the correlation to Trump's brand of nonsense.

I'm not disputing Duran's greatness. He could well be top 10 p4p and is definitely one of the most complete ever. But he's not a great example of always aquitting himself like a true warrior in the ring. That one quit job makes that impossible in my eyes.

There's speculation man hasn't landed on the moon. Pure speculation means nothing to me.
