Francisco was the most legitimately promising. The rest were products of sheer TV hype.

I think Williams' hype was legitimate as he was an exceptional telent..

Probably when he got schooled on the inside by the older and smaller Jesse James Leija. There wer rumors circulating that Bojado would rather party than train and up his skills... that fight was a culmination of that as he was owned by the old warrior champ. The Bojado hype train completely derailed after that loss.

Bojado was in an elite class of 140 lb prospects at that time along with Cotto, Ricardo Williams, Muhammad Abdulaev and Hector Camacho Jr.... and Bojado was the leading star of that class.

Fans in the know were assuming we'd eventually see big superfights among all them one day at the championship level. Sad that the only fighter to actually make it to the top was Miguel Cotto who didn't even seem as naturally talented as most of the rest of those guys.

Williams was a great talent, just a complete headcase. They don't give out olympic medals because someone's a hype job.

Yep... Cotto defintely had more heart for the game than those other guys. He was also managed better than those fighters as well.

Bojado. That kid had everything. Speed, power, skills, ring smarts, and ring maturity.

Sadly enough he was not disciplined enough. Partying ****ed up his career.

Those rumors have been confirmed by my friend who grew up with Bojado. He'd tell me that Panchito would get ****ed up on the weekends, and that his girlfriend would not help him by making him choose her.

And... it was guy no one mentioned.

8 years later after being written off post Maidana, it appears Vicious Victor is on the cusp of yet another comeback match, his 6th or 7th I believe.
