Are you serious? Or is this is a lame attempt to build up Floyd Mayweather into something he is not and most likely never will be?

Easy question, Tyson by far. Floyd has not had that big of an impact. He is nothing new nor are his talents. We had Roy Jones before him and Pernell Whitaker. Its not as if Floyd by himself has brought more fans into boxing, probably the opposite. Tyson on the other hand, brought alot of fans in. We needed a popular/dominant and legit heavyweight champ at the time. Since Larry Holmes retired the division was a mess, lots of alphabet/titles champs. Tubbs, Tucker to name a few. He brought excitment with all of his fights, you can't say the same for PBF.

PBF success has come w/the popularity of his opponents. His opponents are the ones who brought in big pay-per-view numbers, not PBF's name recognition. I recall he could not even fill a small Portland OR civic center. The Baldomir fight was not a big payperview seller and as I recall it did not have a large crowd. He always fought in small arenas. The catche of De La Hoya's popularity is what carried their pay-per-view, same w/Hatton and Marquez. I think the numbers for Mosley Mayweather prove it. They said it would do 2 or 3 million, it only did 1.4 (which is impressive to some degree) Tyson filled large arenas no matter who he fought.

Hands down Tyson has had a bigger impact

    Tyson by a country mile.

In all the five burrows hes known fogetaboutit

Even now in the world lots of people know who Tyson is.

Even the one who dont follow the sport know who Tyson is.

On the other hand Mayweather is pretty much an unknown in most of the planet.

Hes only known by the diehard fans the casuals who dont follow boxing dont have a clue who he is and that goes for any fighter around today.

Tyson was a phenom there hasnt been one personality with the charisma and the star power that a Prime Mike had, his electrifying fights where must see TV.
