Holy made a fortune in the second Tyson fight, but these fighters are getting smarter these days, and getting a portion of the PPV money. I wouldnt be suprised if Floyd passes him by the end of his career. Emanuel Steward said Floyd made close to 50 million between the Oscar and Hatton fight alone.

  6. Holyfield has made way more money than Floyd, way over 100 Million, probaly close to 150, but with a Mansion the size of Seattle, and 11 kids and 3 ex wives, i guess it's still not enough:-( otherwise why at 45 he still keeps punishing himself????:huh

    3 fights with Bowe.
    2 with Lennox.
    2 with Tyson.

Those 7 fights generated MASS amounts of money alone.

Holyfield has made 20 millions at least 4 times in single fights alone..........

He received $20 million for his last defense against Michael Moorer in November. (Moorer rematch)

Holyfield is getting $35 million and Tyson $30 million. (Tyson rematch)

Evander Holyfield, $30 million, Las Vegas, Nev., Nov. 9, 1996. (Tyson I)

Holyfield exacts revenge on Bowe, earning a majority decision, $11 million and the WBA and IBF heavyweight titles.
    (Bowe rematch)

Months of fragile negotiations for the rematch ended with both fighters signing contracts over the weekend that will pay them some $15 million each to meet again at the UNLV campus arena.

Though Holyfield still maintains he did not lose, he admitted Tuesday that he fought poorly. And he accepted parity in the purses this time, after making $20 million to $10 million for Lewis when they first fought March 13 at Madison Square Garden. (both Lewis fights)

Holyfield, whose purse was $5 million, lost a point in the 10th round for hammering Ruiz below the belt. But after Ruiz used most of his allotted five-minute rest period, he came back and retaliated with a low blow that referee Joe Cortez let slide. (Ruiz 2)

Holyfield (37-4-1) earned $5 million for the fight, bringing his total purses to $100 million since beating Tyson in November 1996 in one of boxing's biggest upsets. (Ruiz 1)
    Ruiz (36-4) got $1.1 million.

Showtime lost more than $2 million on the show, a commercial bomb with about 150,000 buys. Losses were so heavy that in order to balance its budget, Showtime got Holyfield to agree to a deferred payment in January of about $2 million of his $5 million purse. (Toney)

Holyfield is so used to fighting he probably can't find anything else to do that makes him as happy as fighting. Sense of purpose, ego, pride, money, habit, etc....

Holyfield has high expenses (ever see his mansion?) with his lifestyle, all those divorce and child support payments.....but damn, it must be an awful lot of money he likes to spend if he's not already financially secure for a few generations to come.
