    Amir Khan is the answer

mentally broke Floyd down with idiotic statements and in a moment of weakness Floyd chose the better risk/reward opponent in Pacquiao

    Showtime pressure probably...

None of the people involved now or before. The person who made it happen is that Murican president whose face is on the back ( or front ) of their dollar bills.

You sure? I thought Tiger Woods was a billionaire. And I know that Rory McIlroy was paid 170 million just to use Nike clubs.

Floyd made his 6 fight deal with CBS/Showtime on the understanding that it would include one or more fights with Pacquiao. This is how Showtime was going to make its money. Floyd tried his best to delay and squirm out of the deal, but eventually Moonves stepped in and forced him to cut the BS and make the Pacquiao fight. Haymon and Floyd had no choice but to say yes.

Mayweather topped Forbes’ 2014 list of the world’s highest-paid athletes with earnings of $105 million over 12 months. He became just the second athlete after Tiger Woods to earn more than $100 million in a single year. Forbes estimates that Mayweather has earned roughly $420 million during his career from fighting. Mayweather earns nothing outside the ring from endorsements. Instead, he gets companies like Corona and O’Reilly Auto Parts to sponsor his fights and market the pay-per-view because that is where Mayweather can make a killing.

You are correct in that he is the highest paid athlete. Still a long way behind Tiger though, and not enough time to reach the magic Billion methinks.
