Fighting dogs in not animal abuse - its in their DNA. Typical ball-less wussy modern 'man' - worried about a dog, hates human beings. What a degenerate peice of **** you are, Jack.
Diego might had his demons, and he may not have been the greatest guy ever, but his smile, his heart, his courage, and his fighting spirit were must-see whenever he fought. No one in the game had such an inviting smile and such a brutal mentality inside the ring like Chico.
A warrior he was.Outside the ring appears to be a completely differant matter.I read an article today that some benefit dinner in his honour donated $5000 to the survivors of his family. How five thousand can make a differance to a guy who made a couple of million is beyond me.What happened to his savings? How does his wife and kids survive ?A terrific fighter, yes. As a provider and responsible care giver, emphaticly,no.:deal
He pulled out of ONE fight when Castillo failed to make weight for the SECOND straight time, even getting caught try to manipulate the scales the first time. What was Chico's excuse for losing to Mayweather, Casamayor, Clottey, and Castillo? He's not Evander Holyfield or Angel Manfredy, he didn't make them.
Chico was an engaging interview, and an incredibly exciting fighter who displayed a lot of heart in the ring. He did, however, have more than his fair share of problems outside the sqaured circle, and those have to be taken into consideration when judging the man. Still, he was a charismatic puncher who always gave his all in the ring. Fighters like him don't come around that often, and they're missed, at least to some extant when they're gone. Same thing applies here.
I miss Diego dearly, i remember arriving on a late flight to Las Vegas and very early the next morning trecking down towards Charleston Boulevard to see who was at Johnny Toccos Gym down on Main Street.. Just before i got through the car park area Diego was just leaving from a quick visit with Kenny Adams who was at the time training both him, Chagaev and Sam Peter. Diego was jovial as ever and quizzing me about who we could hook up for him to fight in great Britain for him.. He was hyper going over and over , c'mon man you gotta have someone over there for me to fight , i wanna go see that country of yours.. Hook me up man who ya gots?? I laughed and hollered.. We got Frank Bruno.. he shreeked Man u crazeee.. Bruno as big as a mothafkr... He could be super crazy , but when all said and done never once left with out asking how my family or my Mother was .. He was a class act and truly wayyy ahead of his time.. They broke the mould.. Lst time i watched him live i helped set up his dressing room with Cory Soinks and Mister Adams for his fight with Cassamayor at Mandalay bay .. on the Holyfield v Toney card.. He wanted a pair of scales , a leopard print chez lounge and a full length mirror ... I later chit chatted as he worked mitts and speed bag and watched him lose in a great fight .. I only saw him breifly before leaving town , i dont think i ever saw him not smile .. even in defeat.. Damn i miss him.... Kenny does too...
