In my opinion PBF needs Manny more. Manny could easily go down in weight to fight Bradley which many fans could like to see (particularly if the Mayweather fight doesnt materialise which we all hope it does). He could always go for a 3rd instalment with JMM as many fans hold the series at 1-1. Floyd, however, doesnt have as many options IMO. Sure he could fight Sergio which was talked about after Mosley, but that fight has to be up at 160. Would the paying public want to see Mayweather vs Cotto/Foreman at 154? Im not so sure. And before every1 starts, its not a hate thread either way, just a discussion
Obviously Mayweather needs Manny more. There are 5 reasons.... 1) To silence his critics....sure a win over Mosley was impressive but it was a prime Mosley although, Mayweather is not in his prime himself. No matter what Mayweather does it isnt enough, so if he fights and defeats Manny there is no one left 147 and below that people will think can challenge him and he could retire knowing he is gonna go down a legend. Manny is the new Golden Boy everyone loves him, and Mayweather has to show them is what you do in the ring that counts, not what comes out your mouth 2) Legacy.....Manny can lose from now going forward and in most eyes it will not affect his legacy, whereas with Mayweather people will treat him like they did Jones, who dominated the sport over a decade but his critcs soon forgot once they got what they wanted. 3) Rivalry....If Mayweather wants to go down in the annuls of boxing he needs a Frazier, to his Ali or at least defeat the best possible opponenet out their and its Manny 4) Power- if he beats Manny it would prove he is good as he says he is and if he fights going forward, he will be in the driver's seat and get all the pirks 5)Money-cant leave that out with Mayweather
There should be an option for, they both need eachother...thats what I think anyway. People say Pacquiao can retire without Mayweather, and some people say Mayweather can retire without Pacquiao...true, but both will continually be asked, why didn't you fight____? I can't see the majority of people accepting the excuses that would follow...whether they are valid or not. What I do know though, is that people want to see this fight before either retires...both legacies would rise significantly if they were to get a victory over the other one.
It happens man...thats why I don't enable polls, half the time you get someone pointing out that you missed something. Well...just like I did...:huhatsch
floyd needs pac more. reasons: 1. pac is currently seen as the greater fighter amongst the two greats. 2. floyd needs more money than pacquiao who's earnings have more purchasing value in the philippines as compared to floyd in america. 3. floyd needs to get back his throne from pacquiao. although pacquiao needed to fight and beat floyd to gain immortality status in the boxing world.
They need EACH OTHER: On the surface it appears that Floyd needs Manny but when you think about it: 1. Manny's starting to look like he's fighting Floyd's leftovers (Hatton, DLH); and 2. Floyd's starting to win the PUBLIC OPINION regarding taking the damn steroid test.....Regardless if Floyd is scared, if Manny DOESN'T take the test, he's going to look bad. Manny has more options, but that's not really the question..... IF the fight NEVER comes off, history will show that if didn't due to Manny NOT taking a blood test..
I've started to notice this aswell...I've always supported a change in the drug testing in boxing, even before all of this between Floyd and Manny kicked off. I could never understand how boxers weren't tested all year round (and when I say all year round, this is not necessarily every boxer X amount of times in the year, but randomly, maybe once or twice a year, seperate from the standard testing)...what was the reason, because they are only in training camp for a number of weeks at a time? Even more reason to randomly test them. But yeah...now that Mosley has and most likely is supporting these drug tests for the future...I have noticed it's gathering, and most likely will continue to gather momentum.
Agreed! Manny def is starting to need Floyd more. He is a walking contradiction, who makes no logical argument for not taking the drug test under Mayweather's guidelines. Manny looks like a cheat to me, even though he might not be at all. He looks like he's scared...either scared of Mayweather, or scared of the drug testing. He took out DLH and Hatton after Mayweather did, he took out Barrera and Morales, after they pretty much sucked the life out of each other, etc. Manny is a great fighter, but who exactly did he demolish in their prime? Who did he crush that wasn't already damaged goods? Sure, Manny looked better than Mayweather against DLH and Hatton, but Mayweather had already beaten them by then. And Cotto was beaten to a pulp by Margarito, then fought for his life with an awful cut against Clottey prior to the Pac fight. And Manny's toughest opponent (JMM), Mayweather beat by barely breaking a sweat. Manny needs Floyd. Manny's resume in actuality is not as great as a lot of his nuthuggers think it is. http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=dw-pacman050410 This article sums it up best. It shows Pac's inconsistencies regarding testing...
Mayweather did just beat a more challenging fighter (Shane) but i still think he needs Pacquiao more.
All roads lead to Mayweather....remember that....he just fought Shane who Pac was scare to fight at 140...please remember ...ALL ROADS LEAD TO MAYWEATHER
After Manny had already beaten him Someone could just as easily say "Mayweather's toughest opponent - Oscar De La Hoya - Pacquiao embarrassed into quitting on his stool."
