Who next for Barker?

ESPN are saying Macklin's signed a deal with GBP so he probably isn't looking to go down the Euro route now.

 

No because purse bids have been won. If Warren had won them the Wright fight wouldnt have been made.

 

is it now?? i have you seen the kid fight...pretty average fighter! and he isn't ranked by any organisation so how is that a good fight for barker who us looking for a world title shot

 

...Because he obviously isn't ready to be going into world class right now (or ever, whatever way you want to look at it). And yes, I've seen Proksa a couple of times (why would I mention it's a good fight if I hadn't seen the guy before?). Good, unbeaten, dangerous fighter that is better than anyone Barker has faced so far.

 

Why would GBP sign Macklin and have him on a card in Vegas and not the MEN Khan card a week later. Makes no sense. They could have won the purse bids for the Barker fight.

Macklin has gone from headlining shows in hos hometown. The winky fight will be in front of 2000 people max.

defence is a bit leaky, throws shots when out of range, works well to the body at times tho and throws a good left, very awkward style, not my cup of tea but think barker should be looking at bigger fights AS I SAID proksa is not ranked by world organisations so how would barker profit from it??

 

To be honest for Macklin this maybe his only chance to fight in the US and if he wins the fight he could well end up fighting again maybe for a World title in the US. Just look at the Irish middleweights at the moment 2 in Lee and Duddy already fight in the US. Big Irish following from the Irish Americans out there. You could see Macklin v Duddy or Lee in the US in the coming 12 months.

As for Barker back to square 1. The EBU rankings should be changed with the amount of European fighters fighting in the US and around the world surely if they keep winning outside of Europe they should get a good ranking in the EBU.
