Warren said he wanted a defence before 2011, so the big names in the division are off the table (Fana, Uchiyama, Solis and Tajbert).

Looking at the ranked fighters, the highest ranked that Warren could easily get over would be Eloy Perez so he'll either have to deal with De La Hoya.

Perez was Mosleys sparring partner for Floyd

I'm sure they will get a soft touch over. Can't see any liberties being taken after that, and rightly so. Nothing wrong with taking an easy payday and not putting the belt at risk in his next fight.

Give him a handy defence. He deserves it. I hate to say it but I cant see him beating any of the other top guys. I was amazed how crude and one dimensional Martinez was. Congrats to Ricky though

Id like to see Burns fight Tajbert, that would be a close but winnable fight, I think

I dont see him having much of a chance against Uchiyama and Solis.

Fana is odd, just when you think this guy is one of the worst boxers ever to hold a title and lose it. He comes back to beat a worthy opponent and regain the title. He has a lot fo experience but its winnable for Burns.

Dont know much about Tajbert though but have been hearing some negative criticism about him.

Like someone else said a soft fight seems appropriate for Burns. Let him milk his belt for as much money as he can get in his hometown. It's not really a division that he needs to prove himself. Perhaps the big names at featherweight will consider moving up and giving him a payday for his belt.

Foster won't beat Leva, well I don't think so anyway.

Leva would be a decent enough opponent assuming he's ranked, Burns has proven his mettle now at a higher level.

If you are a champion you've got to take proper defences, not just domestic level fights.

Yep. I believe there is some African in the top 10 of the WBO - he could potentially be the opponent I guess.

I was telling anyone that would listen I fancied Burns if it went past 4 rounds!! Martinez is dead at the weight and purely relies on that big shot!! Ricky has underated power and an engine that is unreal!! I think he could be tempted into a fight with Mitchell or Nicky Cook??

I wouldn't grumble with a nice defence and fat paycheque in November against someone half-decent in the WBO's top ten rankings after last night's performance. After that, why not some of the other beltholders at Super Feather? After last night I think Burns has proved beyond any doubt thet he does belong at title level and the division is ripe for Burns' onslaught now. Hopefully we'll see a unification sometime next year. Warren can be very shrewd with matchmaking Burns at this weight and Burns can, based on last night's performance, pick up a few more titles, IMO.

It's also interesting to note that Burns has just whipped The Ring's #2 ranked fighter after he himself was not even in the top 10 of the rankings (http://www.ringtv.com/ratings/jr_lightweight/). Given the nature of the win last night, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him top the rankings at Super Feather now. A feat that would be well-deserved on Burns' part. Who knows, we might even see Burns fight for The Ring title at some point next year as well:woot.
