Who would you like to see him in with next? I'd like to see him beat Canelo, but I don't think GB will make that fight. Who in the 154 division is his most likely foe?
How 'bout Trout, if he makes it past Rodriguez?! Cotto will probably still be rated high in the WBA rankings, and Trout is holding the "regular"... Relatively easy fight and belt for Miguel.
No way Cotto takes on Trout after refusing to take on Maravilla, a much bigger name. Trout would likely box his way to a decision win in a less than stellar fight, I don't think any party is interested in that particular fight. Next should be Canelo in September, the sooner the fight happens the better chances Cotto has for the win.
I cant see anyone ruining what could be a HUGE fight in Mexico by sacrificing Canelo or Chavez Jr. to Cotto. So, those two options are out. Martinez is the only BIG pay day fight out there that I can see. If he can't get Floyd...Martinez may be interested in coming down to 154 to fight Cotto? Vanes vs. Cotto could be a good one... Kirkland is always looking for a fight..and I think he gets dodged quite a bit..but that is a hard fight for both guys...not sure if Cotto will want to take on someone so physical. Molina would be a fight with a named opponent with a low KO%. Could be a safe comeback fight? Bundrage...Paul Williams... There are some guys out there, but no BIG BIG pay days outside Martinez.
He beats both Canelo and Chavez IMO so he won't get those fights. Martinez is do-able with DiBella, K9 probably not because King would want future options on Miguel, though Tito Trinidad could be a factor there. Howabout Cotto vs Angulo...
It might be a problem if he's a free agent now, neither of the big promoters will want him to beat their rising stars.
Cotto took his revenge out on Antonio Margarito. I'd just love to see him get his hands on MANNY PACQUIAO. Manny, stop being a big ***** and fight Miguel Cotto! He's not going to drop down to 147 so asking him to do that means you are ducking him. Fight Miguel Cotto! Pacquiao is a ***** if he doesn't fight Miguel Cotto.
Cotto doesn't have many fights left in him so I don't think he messes with guys like Trout, Bundrage, etc, though Bundrage-Spinks winner having a belt may make that fight a bit more enticing. The three biggest payday options for Cotto are probably Mayweather 2, Pac 2, and Alvarez. I guess he could get one of those fights but I'd lean towards those not being next for Cotto. Martinez is a possibility as well as Ortiz-Berto winner. There's also Williams and Kirkland so there are a lot of options for Cotto. Looking foward to who he chooses.
