this fight would not be pointless. martinez is a serious fighter with some serious talent. imo he would give pavlik a lot of trouble. i would definitely take pavlik but it would be a good fight. way better than ****in pavlik/mora. i would rather see pavlik/williams or pavlik/froch, though.
I think Pavlik should move to super-middle and destroy the highly over-rated Karl Froch in England and then demand kessler.I think pavlik now has a point to prove to the world and himself. thoughts
Sturm got more than a million yesterday - euros not dollars. HBO offers $2 million, ZDF wouldn't spend more than $0.5 million (Pavlik isn't that known in Germany and the fight would occur in the middle of the night). Pavlik will get the lion's share of the cake. Universum's deal with ZDF expires next year. ZDF (which pays €20 million a year) is reluctant to extend the deal. A Sturm (Universum's only remaining cash cow) loss would be a disaster for Universum and their fight for a new TV partner. Maybe the fight happens if RTL (which broadcasts the Klitschko fights) decides to televise Sturm. RTL certainly won't buy the rights for other Universum fighters like Kotelnik.
Why is it always about Pavlik and Top rank? You think Sturm is coming here for a $1 million your nuts and Arum would allow Sturm to keep all German tv money and his guy receives less than half of his opp.?? They are still trying to negotiate a Sturm fight, but Martinez is an option and leverage in negotiations. Let's face it even if it is SM it's better than most of the middles out there. KP will move up when he's done at MW there's no weight jumping. Like he said 3-4 mre fghts at MW then fight the winner of the SMW tourny!
His style works for him, TOUGH chin, DECENT power, Unorthdox style, HORRIBLE defense that works for him, why is he "overrated", he beat Jermain Taylor and Jean Pascal, and is in the SMW tournament. If that is what you mean by overrated, I want to know who is "underrated" to you?:huh
Well, now that Sturm has won his fight, I hope to watch it later today or tomorrow, negotiations can begin in earnest. Some people really can't get past which side of the ocean they are on when it comes to discussions. Sad really. Saurland has seemingly won the PR war on ESB with at least some posters. So be it. It gives their lives meaning I guess. I don't see AA going far in the tourney. He may prove me wrong, I just don't see Mr. Short Arms overcoming his, ahem, short comings at that weight. It is the main problem he would have had with Kelly.
