This poll is actually quite absurd. We have 35 posters who want to feed a green prospect to Martinez, Pavlik, or Williams. Pavlik is in the lead by a mile. Those who voted that way may get their wish. There is a rumour floating around on the Vindy.Com twitter that HBO definitely wants Pirog back, and they're talking Pavlik. I think an old saying is appropriate here: "Be careful what you wish for."

Sturm.... I think Pirog could dispose him and its beyond time for Sturm.... and what better then a fresh, dynamic warrior like Pirog? (unless m'man Mayorga can do it first!)

    If not Sturm, then Sylvester.....

after he beats those two id love to see a fight with Pavlik at 160 if possible...

I just hope he stays busy he is 17-0 and isn't all that experienced in terms of facing top tier opponents. He needs 2/3 decent defence's and then he could take on Martinez or who ever is king at 160 in a years time.

I think Pirog is a genuine threat to Sylvester. As for a Sturm fight, if Pirog lost it would not be a brutal ass whooping. It would be the kind of loss he could learn from, and recover quickly. I honestly believe that would not be the case against Williams, Martinez, and Pavlik.

I do not think Pirog could keep up with Martinez. Also if you look at Pirog's facial structure, you'll see those high prominent cheek bones and brow ridges that make a fighter proned to cuts. Bad news against Sergio.

In both the Jantuah and Jacobs fights I saw many signs that Pirog cannot fight going backwards. If you're in the ring with Paul williams or Kelly Pavlik, and you can't fight going backwards, you're in a world of ****.

Wouldn't put martirosyan in the mix at all to be honest. Looked a bit clueless in his defeat to n'jikam just plodding forward trying to land the big one and getting countered all night. Pirog would do whatever he wanted to do with him.

I'd like to see him dethrone Sylvester. Purely because he is a poor champion who doesn't deserve the pay days against the less-than-stellar opposition he oh so loves to fight (and rob).

I favor Pirog to beat PW. Not so sure on PAvlik. Pavlik has big power but stylistically Pirog matches up very well.
Martinez is just a better Pirog so far. Slicker and faster.

Sylvester would be a damn good choice. A win would make Pirog a unified world titlist, so even though he's not the champ, his handlers could still pick and choose the right credible opponents for Pirog to get a bit more experience. No one should expect a kid with a total of 92 rounds under his belt to jump up and fight a top guy. That's absurd.

I agree with that. Pirog, whilst a fine talent, would probably be beaten by Martinez right now. Another 2 or 3 fights against solid contenders would be needed. Having said that, he'd scalp Sylvester fairly handily as I don't even consider him in the top 10 (on ability).

i dont get it why people want him to fight macklin or sylvester or whatever.
boxing is about challenges, thats how fighters fought back in the day and thats how they learned, Pirog is 30 already and he is hugry...I think that he should go right after Williams, and Pavlik

If you honestly believe prospects were not protected back in the day, let me offer you the opportunity to educate yourself.

20's - 60's guys typically didn't pad their records and they certianly weren't forced to pad they're records out of fear that the public and fans would write them off after a loss or two. Fickle fans, a large part due to media, are a huge problem now a days imo.

Take Pavlik. Alot of ppl have lost interest in him. Sure we know that a Martinez, Ward, Bute would be all wrong for him but i'd still LOVE to see him vs Abraham, Froch, Kessler, Andrade, Tsypko, Andy Lee (too soon for Lee) etc.
