Unlikely.... Stiverne and Arreola are fairly evenly matched. Stiverne has size and technique and probably a slight power advantage, while Arreola has the more sturdy chin, the speed, and the aggressiveness. The rematch will show a more poised Arreola, waiting more on openings, rather than looking for the quick KO. either way, it's gonna be a long punishing fight, with both guys taking hard shots and probably getting busted up. Neither one will be able to fight again till late 2014.:think
The first fight was only punishing for one of the combatants. We'll see what happens. A late summer date for the winner of that fight against Wilder is doable.
No it wasnt....... Stiverne was hurt multiple occasions during the fight. Sure, Arreola got his giant schnoz busted up in the 3rd, and was AFRAID to engage for several rds after, but around the 7th or 8th, he began to close in once again, and he was landing hard shots occasionally buckling Stiverne. :think I was rooting for Stiverne and I thought the best man won, but to say Arreola was not in the fight and never punished stiverne is ludicrous.:nono
And Wilder would be wise to take a fight in between.... Not saying he should risk his shot, but he's earning money on name value alone now....no need to bring in another name opponent to build hype.... He could rematch Nichols or Sconiers and still get paid.
Fields is an excellent comparison. And, like Fields, Wilder's pathetic punch resistance will be exposed once he fights decent competition.
