Floyd is coming off an extremely long lay off to fight one of the best guys he'll ever be in the ring with. Yeah Marquez will have to come up in weight, but he wanted the fight. He's a professional & he'll come up the right way. Floyd deserves full credit & no excuses if he were to beat this counter punching beast.

Marquez will be the most skilled fighter Floyd has fought

In a p4p sense its likely between JMM & DLH.
In a h2h sense, there are a few guys on Floyd`s record that should be harder due to size than JMM, like DLH, Castillo & Corrales maybe.

    I doubt a 135 pd Marquez could defeat a 135 pound Oscar.
As to fighters today, yes Marquez is better than the Oscar Floyd fought.

I actually think he would... These guys are better than ODH in his 135 pound days. He was a gifted guy but JMM and Pac are something extraordinary that they dont get credit for.

 Very misleading question. Yes Marquez is one of the absolute best fighters today and will have a respectable spot in the all time rankings, BUT... he's not even an average sized lightweight, yet he'll be fighting arguably the best fighter he'd ever face in his career :deal more than a few divisions above his best weight class. Marquez can't move up and be the same fighter (meaning, as effective) he was in the lower weight divisions, so technically Floyd won't be fighting the same counter punching beast that was so successful against Pac and others in his best days :good

If you really believe that then I'm sure you have no problems admitting JMM and Pac are better than FLoyd in his 135 days:think

So you saw in Marquez' two fights at the weight, and Pac's one fight at the weight, signs that they were better than Hoya's 18 fights at lightweight?

think about it. marquez jumped right into the lions den and went straight to the jugular when he destroyed #1 lightweight casa and another top lightweight in diaz. these guys had completely different styles and jmm took the best they had and not only beat them but beat them impressively. these were guys that had been sharing the mantle of best lightweight for a while back and forth. no disrespect to oscar's 18 opponents but none had the credentials these 2 had, even though they were pretty good fighters.
