That would be one tough nut to crack, and I agree he would have been Jack's toughest opponent, though he conveniently allways said it was McVey,I don't beleive him.I think Jeanette gave him more trouble than handsome Sam McVey
How many rounds, and how big is the ring? 50/50 type of match. Johnson did not have the type of chin to take many of Langford's bombs. A prime 170-185 pound Langford was very strong in the clinches, and because he was so short, had nice leverage too. I do think Johnson had the better defense, and uppercut.
M , you call the tune ,name the rounds and the size of the ring, how's that? Johnson went 20rds, 20 times, in one fight he kod McVey in the closing seconds of the 20th round ,so he had power late in a fight Johnson went 26 rds with a giant in tropical heat when he was 37, and was in front when he was stopped On Johnson's chin. from 1897 to when he lost to Willard ,in 1915,that's 18 YEARS, he was stopped twice ,in 76 fights. Langford ,from 1902 to 1915 ,when he lost the coloured Championship to Jeanette was stopped twice, that's 12 years, so was Langford chinny too ?
I definitely pick Johnson. But, how relevant is the Choynski fight? If Joe can stop him (arguably pre prime), maybe Sam could to. I think at best he wins one fight out of 5.
