Vote? I don't see a poll. Anyways there are three basic markets: 1)The Dynasty fan- The fan who saw JCC and wants to see his son succeed and continue the Chavez legacy. Basically the sort of fan who roots for a player to get picked by the same team his dad played on so they can cheer for him and what not. It's like the Patrick Ewing Jr stuff. It's a nice story and with a fanbase as deep and populate as the JCC fanbase, it makes sense that he'd have a deep hand in this fan base. 2)The Anti Fan- The fan who hates JCC Jr for a variety of reasons. It could be that they didn't like his dad. It could be that they look at him and see an overrated bum who's riding his dad's name to a career. It could be that he's protected and perhaps a bit cocky. It could be because he's not the "traditional mexican warrior." Basically for whatever the reason they hate him. This is the most underrated market in boxing. Floyd Jr has it. The fan who will pay any amount of money (so long as it's reasonable) to see him fail. They want to be there to be able to say "I told you so!" when the bottom eventually does fall out. 3)The boxing fan who has nothing better to do fan- Yeah that would be us. Basically it's the guy who has some money to burn, is sitting around bored and figures "What the hell, I got the money, why not order the event and do some r-b-r" Not that I'm speaking frome experience or anything. These are the hardcore fans who just love boxing and might be intrigued by the names on the undercard. That's not counting the casualite boxing fans and such but you get my drift. Edit: Added the poll while I was posting. Sly boots.
not me, anybody that watches chavez jr ppv is wasting their money.....guy is a B- fighter and nothing more.....and i have the sense arum knows this.....
Good analysis, Arriba. I ordered the rematch with Vanda. This was partially because Vanda gave him a good fight the first time around but mostly based on the lack of another televised card that night. The undercard featuring Donaire, Arce, and L. Peterson also made me feel less guilty in ordering the event. The next one coming up has the Gamboa fight, which will probably tempt me. It's not like HBO or Showtime are scheduling anything for that night anyways.
Right Arum stacks the **** out of the undercards on these smaller fringe PPVs. I mean the only JCC Jr based PPV I ordered, there was Humberto Soto, Ferando Montiel and two more good fringe fights on it. He loads it up.
I ordered one PPV cause my homeboy from salinas was on the card fighting Chavez. Other than that check out the undercards for latin fury 10 theyre awesome I just see JC Jr as an extra.
