i agree in thinking hopkins didn't really "play it safe".

he made some bad decisions, but i think the main reason he didn't get too many big fights until 2001 is because of king. it took a big star like tito to put it all together at mw, too much $$ to pass down. then hops was stuck with king for 2 years afterwards.

as it is, hopkins did fight some respectable contenders and good middleweights in addition to the overmatched guys like frank, james, nd hakkar.

Trinidad hands down. Its close with the other guys but Clear IMO. Trinidad's career was a death walk and he lined up every possible threat from 147lbs to 160lbs and if he were to beat Hopkins back in 01 he was going to ****ing fight a prime Roy Jones at a catch weight between 168 and 160. That right there EQUALS BALLS..Trinidad's resume is ****ing stacked beyond belief and he never objected to any opponent without even the slightest hesitation. Only Trinidad would have fought Winky Wright after beating a ******ed brawler like Mayorga. Trinidad's 1 dimensional style was never an issue to him, he just got in that ring and fought bottom line.

Sugar Shane Mosley closely come in at 2nd. And you could easily say Mosley has the biggest balls, But honestly if anything Tito and Mosley are just ****ing completely equal. Mosley fighting a 6 foot vernon forrest twice and then winky wright twice is unreal.

In the end Mosley and Trinidad took the path of MOST resistance, and that is why I respect Tito and Mosley way more than all the other fighters on that list.

No he didn't. He didn't fight Forrest or Winky.

He offered Winky a fight. Winky turned it down.

Vernon. Vernon was feared by everyone wasn't he? Then Mayorga beat him.

hopkins-dlh fight was not at 160. dlh demanded a catchweight of 158.

somehow, the old man was able to get himself down to 156.

    gotta respect his work ethic.

Thats very true but it doesn't change the fact that he offered Winky a fight at his highest payday. Although Winky might wanted what DLH was making it wasen't gonna happen.

Just shows you how smart Oscar is business wise. Winky didn't want as much as him but he definitely wanted and deserved more.

I understand that but he did offer him a fight. I dont think Oscar was afraid of Winky.

Hell yeah Winky deserved more than what Oscar was trying to give him. He did it on purpose because he knew Winky wouldn't accept it.

I don't think he was afraid of getting hurt. I think he was afraid of losing though.

Oscar aint no dummy when it comes to making moves like that . I gotta give him props. When he offered Winky that fight it meant about as much to me as Floyd calling Winky out a couple years ago. I knew neither would ever happen.

I would have too but I'm convinced Oscar knew he wouldn't take that offer.

Eh, that's true, Winky was trying to be money hungry after the Mosley fights. But still, Winky made the bad choice, he knows he can beat Oscar. Get 6 million, make it close, get even more in the rematch and dominate him. Become a star.
