Among the sluggers/swarmers: Armstrong, Marciano, Limon, Cuevas, Trinidad post 95-96 (he actually boxed and countered a bit before that time when he wanted to.) Looking at this from a different perspective, you could view dancers who glided around the ring while flicking jabs and an occasional cross as being one-dimensional, too...Think Cory Spinks as an example. I think he'd be an example of a fighter using one dimension and one style to close to its maximum benefit. Any more examples of this kind of one-dimenional style?
Henry Armstrong. The ultimate swarmer: his fights seemed like one long, long combination with short breaks every 3 minutes.
Felix Trinidad and Joe Frazier are the perfect examples. But then again a guy like Hector Camacho is also one sided because all he did was run and box, then clinch. Come forward guys are more often labelled one dimensional then back pedallers.
i don't agree with benn, either.he boxed a bit more after his defeats to eubank and watson.he had a fair left jab but liked to hook more.
they just threw hard bombs although Galaxy did try to feel his opponent out (although didnt take him long) Who i thought. Was primarily a pressure figther fighting out of a boxer-puncher stance. Lacked the ability to put pressure on like a pressure fighter (ie cut off the ring) and lacked the versatility of the Boxer-Puncher. He is unskilled in a textbook sense, although i think he was skilled in different ways like rolling with shots, his unorthoox head movemenbt and punch angles. great shout He had very good timing i felt and with a strong jab that can make up for a lot. Maybe at LWW but i felt at SFW and LW he was very dimensional.
mm not sure he was a counter puncher aswell as a pressure fighter and could box on occasion but not the most versatile
Virgil Hill-Basically had a great lefthand and movement and was on the world stage for awhile. Tommy Loughran-Had basically a great left hand and that was the extent of his weapons. Troy Dorsey-basically had crazy stamina and just relied on throwing punches in bunches.
to me a one dimentional style would be a fighter like Gerrie Coetzee who had the jab, the right hand the hook but did not adapt in the ring too well. There are fighters who can not make changes in the ring. One dimentional is that...fighters even though they have a particular style that can switch up or throw and assortmant of punches from many angles are not one-dimentional...fighters like Louis,Marciano,Ali,Tyson were far from one-dimentional because they often switched angles and attack
