Rigondeaux or Mares? I think Mares does. Rigondeaux would make it a boring ass chess match. As soon as Donaire lands on Rigo, it's a wrap. Where as Mares will be in his chest all night, ripping body shots.

I totally disagree to the nth degree. Based on pedigree .I reevaluated by choice
Previously and now change it to Rigo. More likely to be a stoppage surprisingly early
.By body shot whilst donaire is bouncing in. Watch the donaire Omar fight.
Donaire couldnt land one shot the whole fight not even one Omar swept the first three rounds by connect rate. Omar reverted into his shell but still came forward
He should off changed his tactics from round four.
Rigo is bigger faster stronger slicker and hits like a truck. I dear donaire to battle the jackal.

Mares doesn't have the power or any resemblance of an outside game to be able to implement anything on Donaire. He would not be in Donaire's chest all night. There is a reason why nobody has been able to fight like that on Donaire. If he tried to get into that position routinely, I'd think it will be an early finish. Guillermo poses more of a threat based on how he will actually fight. That and, we've seen the best of Mares, there's a chance we haven't seen the best of Rigondeaux.

  5. Both of them have 2 chances- slim and none

And slim has just left town.

I say Rigondeaux stands more chance of lasting the 12 by not engaging, Mares pays for his bravery but gets more respect for his performance than Rigondeaux

Rigondeaux. The fact that he could make it a 'boring ass chess match' is to his advantage. Nonito struggles against defensively well schooled fighters. Mares will come forward and get picked off.

If mares takes Nonitos power, he could potentially pose more of a threat. I dont think he'll take his power though, so rigondeaux poses more of a threat. Still think Nonito beats both, but this is boxing, anything can happen.

Mares will give Donaire the best "Fight".
The workrate & body punching will trouble Nonito & also I can See Abner absorbing more than any of Donaire's previous opponents stretching Nonito to later RDs.

Rigondeaux for all his pedigree & talent has a bad chin that Nonito will exploit rather easily. Rigo's counterpunching style is perfect for Donaire to also counter against.

    Initial guesstimate...

    Mares goes 12
    Rigo gets stopped.

Mares will be butting and shooting low shots all night neither is a threat IMO, Mares has been buzzed in fights against guys that dont really turn over their shots, I see Nonito nailing him with Uppercuts as Mares tends to have a habit of leaning forward allot.

Left hooks are also Key.... Mares just doesnt have the goods to beat Nonito, Rigo has a better chance

I think they both have a chance and are well established champion level fighters in their own right. Mares is a problem, he's tough as ****, relentless, and is going to pin Donaire down and work the **** out of his body. Mares is the "toughest" fight in the division, even though I think Rigo would have a better chance to win. It won't be the physical test that Mares would be, Rigo would be a mental test...patience, strategy, discipline, it would be a different kind of "tough fight". Either one would be the toughest fight of Nonito's career to this point.

If Rigo could be argued as the favorite if he were more famous

Mares gets his head knocked off or outclassed

Much more entertaining fight, but don't try and act like he actually stands a chance... He stands about as much chance as Rios did with Pacquiao

I believe most people in this forum saw Mares vs Moreno as a hard to pick winner, no counting haters or biased.
If Moreno didn't win was because he was featherfisted for 122 and mares has a good chin because he landed at will. Nonito won't need to land that much and we all know that.
