Mike Tyson was stomped by both Holy and Douglas...neither of those men were capable of the kind of punch Ali could muster when he came off his toes. And Ali had a legitimate heavyweight punch with both hands (again, almost entirely when he went flat-footed.) Do fans agree with this sentiment? Did Ali hit harder than Holy? You can add Douglas but he wasn`t a serious puncher I feel.

I’d go with Muhammad Ali. When he chose to stand his ground he had excellent power.

Holyfield, for sure. He planted his feet and put his weight into it. No contest.

Ali staggered Foreman with single shots and knocked him out.

    Ali

Looking back at his footage in the recent days I’m often impressed by his power.

Do you think he threw harder shots at Foreman than Ali did?

Do you think Qawi could have taken the same amount of shots from Ali that he took from Holy in their first match? Do you think Ali ever threw shots as hard as those Holy threw against Qawi in their rematch?

Holyfield absolutely punches harder than Ali, and I don't think there's a contest. It's a matter of style and intent. Ali wanted to be fast and elusive. Holyfield wanted to cave your head in.

Comparing their respective results against Foreman is completely pointless. Foreman gassed terribly against Ali and he held his composure against Holyfield. Foreman's strategy was different for either fighter. If Foreman went after Holy like he did Ali he wouldn't have made it out of the second round and they'd have needed an oxygen mask at ringside.
