Who punched harder Marciano or Ingo J.

Some like Layne,C*ckell , and especially Vingo,were never the same again.

 

I can't recall any of the fighters I've known, nor myself, having pain often in a bout the way your talking of. When a fighter says he was hurt he's almost always saying he was buzzed so bad that he was in trouble. Your too involved during a match for your brain to often register pain in the way your talking of, only twice was a body shot so hard that I can remember that pain. When Floyd talked of the power of Ingo and Sonny he contemplated quite awhile before speaking then compared each, Ingo's sharper and Sonny's more thudding with Ingo's landing harder on him. If he was remembering pain it was likely in the way I wrote here and not in the common usage of the word.

 

I'd say Rock.

 

I think Rocky is equal with right hand, but he had very good hook and right/left uppercut that lifted Joe Louis a big man and throw him out of the ring.

Ingo hit hard, but it was the way he set up the punches that did the most damage. He would give entire rounds away to lull the opponent into a false sense of security, rarely or never throwing any power punches, before launching the bingo missile on an off guard opponent.

Rocky was a swarming/brawling hybrid. Every punch was meant to take your head off and he was one of the few guys who could deliver decent to great power with almost every combination. Rocky and Ingo both hit hard, but their methods were total opposites (Ingo was more of a sniper/counter puncher). I think honestly if Ingo were to punch at a stationary target who saw it coming and could brace himself, it wouldn't do as much damage as if Rocky landed his Suzie Q flush on the same opponent. Rocky's average punches are below the bingo, but when he was really trying to finish a guy with bad intentions, I think Rocky hit a tad harder just based on the eye test (visuals of opponents reacting to the blows). Ingo was more of an explosive fast twitch hitter anyway, while Rocky was more of a heavy handed clubber.

 

I think it was about the same. Probably Ingo with the right, Rocky with the left. But Ingo didn't use his left as a threat much at all so who knows. Ingo could've gone much further with a different style. Also as for that Machen stoppage I think Jimmy Young could've stopped Machen with this kind of ref work.

They both hit very hard but I think Marciano’s power was proven over a longer stretch and against a wider variety of opponents. Therefore I’d have to give Rocky the benefit of the doubt. Nothing is proven here however
