Who punches harder and who has a better chin, Pavlik or Abraham?

I think asking about sheer power is the wrong question. Abraham's use of power is innefficient and inarticulate. That's why so many mediocre middleweights have made it into the late rounds, or finished on their feet with him.

Pavlik has fought a few guys who would beat pretty much everyone on AA's resume', and yet, no middleweight has lasted pasted 9 rounds with him. Only 2 went past 8. Above and below 160 only 2 fighters have ever gone 12 with Kelly; Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins, and Arthur has never been near that level of the sport.

The bottom line is that KP has a higher KO ratio, and has fought generally better competition. He is better at knocking people out.

 

Abraham clearly has the better chin IMO.

Power is close but Abraham's hardest punch is harder then Pavliks IMO but Pavlik is more accurate has a beter workrate and better combo puncher.

But you know what people? Your opinions will remain as opinions until we see that fight between the two happens.

GREAT post! the point about how abraham uses his power is well put. i think one punch power wise, AA might have the edge. but when you throw punches like charlie zelenoff, it's gonna catch up with you. pavlik picks his spots and uses his power MUCH more effectively.

To this very day I still think good ole Bronco McKart explained Pavlik's style and use of power better than any of us ever will. Bronco was standing there bleary eyed and wobbley after being knocked out for the first time in 53 fights, and said; "It's not that he hits ya that hard. It's just that everything he lands has sumpin on it."

 

Considering the fact that LuJaun Simon was living off McKarts left overs, I'd have to conclude that McKart would be a step up compared to several of arthur's title defenses.

Clearly?? Based on what? That he didn't quit after Miranda ripped his face off, or that Ayala, Oral, Simon and such couldn't hurt him with the powder puffs that were repeatedly landing flush?

 

Miranda hit him with his best shots and didnt even blink(even with his jaw broken lookin like its about to fall off). He also took hard shots from Jantuah and Eastman. Never down never even wobbled....... Clearly better.
