I agree that the sweet science is about hitting (first) and not getting hit (second).

Arreola showed up to fight, throwing, trying to hit. He was at a disadvantage in size, that he had to give up the "not getting hit" part and take risks to land. He gave it his all. You know Haye still had a lot more to give when the final bell rang.

You do have a good point about Vlad and Wlad being two very different fighting styles, so anyone who fight Vitaly would look to be in a better scrap than they would if fighting Wlad who is very defensive behind the jab staying at a safe distance.

But there ain't nothing to be proud about if your just going to be defensive all night, not taking risks, and end up losing.

I would have more respect for the guy that truely tried, even though he ended up gettiing beat down in the process.

Both were equally bad bad just in other ways, I will say this though Vitali put on a MUCH better performance than Wlad.

yeah, he did bring what he had... which was nothing. to plod forward whilst getting hit in the face the amount of times he did, isn't exactly "heart". more like stupidity.

haye has shown lots of heart through out his career. go and watch any of his fights apart from wlad and valuev. he'll show you plenty of heart.

do you judge roberto duran as a fighter based on the rematch with leonard? :think

Arreola put a better entertainment show but got completely owned. Haye put a better show as far as boxing skills are concerned.

It's subjective and depends on your criteria for 'a good performance'.
Arreola actually tried to fight but was completely ineffective.
Haye was effective but didn't put any effort into try to fight.

Arreola came forward and tried to win took some good ones landed some good ones

made vitali struggle at times and made him show age at times

even won a round convincingly despite receieving a nasty beating

he got raped? that must of been the explicit version. didn't watch it myself.

QUESTION: did vitali put one of those balls in his mouth.. like in pulp fiction?
