Nothing between them as far as im concerned. Khan won rounds but he didnt exactly have to rip them out of Canelo,s grip, Alverez was in no rush in the early rounds and wasnt intent on winning them on the score cards. In the end the innevitable happened. Brook won some rounds but Golovkin is happy for his opposition to try put the pressure on him and have some success. Golovkin wasnt intent and winning those early rounds. In the end the innevitable happened. Im sure if either of them really wanted to make sure all those rounds were scored in their favour rather than looking at the bigger picture those rounds would of happened quite differently.
Good question. Khan won more rounds, but you always got the feeling Canelo was just having a look at him and it was only a matter of time. I'll say Brook because he got some legitimate hard shots in and was giving as good as he got for a while, though generally getting the worst of it. Probably came off worst long term for his durability as well, Khan went to sleep but there was no long term damage and the fight just told us what we already knew, Khan is a talented speedster with some technical flaws and a china chin.
Khan schooled Canelo for 4 rounds had a competitive 5th and got KTFO in the 6th. Brook won maybe 2 rounds. Khan clearly performed better, but that has everything to do with Canelo being pretty average when it comes to actual boxing ability more so than how good Khan is. My God... Algieri was more competitive than Canelo. Its a damn good thing Khan has no chin and Canelo has amazing power against guys with no chin, otherwise Nelo would have taken his 2nd official L that night.
Brook imo. Brook got hit and stood his ground against one of the heaviest punchers in 160 history. Khan was brought in for a Canelo highlight reel KO, sure Khan won a couple of rounds but the minute Canelo wanted to he ended it. Plus Brook didn't end the fight like he was asleep on somebody's couch.
As far as who actually survived and even managed to win more rounds along the way, then the naswer is Amir Khan who not only managed to go 2 more rounds than Brook but also managed to win at least 2 of those 6 rounds. The fact that in round 6 Canelo caught Khan with a straight right hand that put him fast to sleep was a different ending than Brook who lost be a TKO and still standing against Golovkin is probably a testament to Canelo having much more concussive force to his punches than Golovkin.
I think they both did a good job. Brook has one hell of a chin. I agree that he'd probably beat Alvarez. Brook would frustrate the hell out of him.
Brook was going toe to toe with a better fighter than Canelo. Khan looked quick but sloppy and got destroyed. Brook hammers Khan plain and simple.
Khan won more rounds, but he did that against a worse opponent. The finish was better for Brook than it was for Khan since...Brook didn't look like he had been killed. Brook showed better technique.
Both were really good performances. But I'd have to side with brook in this one. Everybody thought Brook was just going to get destroyed and early on too, and Brook did very well and sort of laid down a blue print on how you trouble GGG. Khan was destined to trouble Canelo especially early because of his rapid hand speed and movement but his chin was always going to fail him against Canelito which is exactly how it played out.. What Brook did with GGG was more impressive to me.
