Who put on the better masterclass? Calzaghe vs Lacy or Hopkins vs Pavlik?

Well you havent watched many fights then....

 

You could say that Calzaghe taught Hopkins that more activity wins you fights. Calzaghe gave Hopkins a new lease of life... Like Hopkins said, he's always learning. I think he learned a lot from Calzaghe.

You think the Hopkins that turned up against Calzaghe puts on the same show against Pavlik?

 

Bernard Hopkins' victory over Kelly Pavlik was much more impressive than Joe Calzaghe's victory over Jeff Lacy. Hopkins was much older than Calzaghe and Pavlik was a much better and more accomplished fighter than Jeff Lacy. Pavlik is the undisputed middleweight champ, while Jeff Lacy carried a meaningless alphabet (IBF) strap.

 

IMO. It was the same Hopkins, its just Calzaghe and Pavlik are on different dimensions.

 

I kind of get what you're saying. I'll take my "Epic Fail" statement back.

 

Calzaghe put on a master class as well but I give Hopkins more credit because he fought and schooled the better fighter. Lacy was nothing more than a limited slugger.

You must have just started watching boxing a few years ago.

 

And Pavlik is a one paced, plodding, predictable, upright repetitive boxer that doesn't move his head and is easy to hit.

Hopkins/Pavlik went EXACTLY as I thought it would because Hopkins is that good and Pavlik simply isn't anywhere near his level.

Although to be fair, I also predicted that Pavlik would visit the canvas in the fight but that didn't happen.

 

Pavlik is light years more skilled than Lacy who was nothing more than a crude slugger with a chissled physique and a catchy nickname Pavlik's jab alone and his ability to mount a real offensive attack proves that.:deal

 

Though Pavlik is the better boxer, light years is a discrediting boxers with actual skills.

 

Both were masterclasses but Calzaghe-Lacy was more of a beatdown so I go with that one, Lacy has a heart as big as everest but I think that beating ruined him, Pavlik still looks ok.
