Not just that terrible list https://www.ringtv.com/488242-ring-greatest-heavyweight-time/ , I´ve seen many more.

Lets say you´d judge more on major opponents than the whole rumse overall, who would rank ahead of Bowe comparing the two or three major wins of a resume?

Fore example, why rate Liston ahead of Bowe? 2x Holyfield clearly > 2x Patterson.
Vitali > Bowe? For Sanders and Chisora and Arreola?
Even Tunney, Holyfield > Dempsey in his last bouts.

Who tops Bowe in therms major names??? Shouldn´t we rate him higher because of it?

Why are Bowe's 2 wins over Holyfield better than Liston's 2 win over Patterson?
Because Patterson was not a natural heavyweight?
Well guess what, neither was holyfield!
Anyway, Ali's 2 win over Frazier could top that.

I think fighters should only be judged as great within their own weight class within the context of the time they fought in. Otherwise, a lot of guys that were once heavyweights just wouldn't cut in anymore. Hell, with how big the heavies are these days, prime George Foreman wouldn't qualify as a heavyweight anymore!

Ali`s third win over Frazier wasn`t very good, he was out of shape and tyhey were both way past it, it was just a brawl.

Schmeling's single win over Louis and Frazier's over Ali both trump Bowe beating Holyfield twice, IMO.

I put Bowe ahead of Vitali. but the names ahead of him for me
    Ali
    Louis
    Marciano
    Liston
    Foreman
    Holmes
    Frazier
    Tyson
    Lewis
    Wlad
Those names aren’t in any particular order just ahead of Bowe. As for Liston Patterson and Holy are about even in my book. But Liston also holds wins against Machen Folley Williams and Valdez. The rest don’t shouldn’t need an explanation. Bowe could have been a top ten guy just got sloppy and lacked better names. Also Liston performed better defensively and offensively.

Also, if we only care about getting the W on paper, Holmes wasn't that far past it when Spinks beat him twice.

Hold on a minute....I've been reading for years on this forum that the only reason Holyfield lost to anyone was because he had issues with his heart.
What credit is due for beating him?

Agree. But we can say the same thing about Bowe's last fight with Holyfield.
Evander was diagnosed with hepatite C and heart problem, while Bowe was getting more and more out of shape.

Prime Foreman was 6'3, 220lb-230lb, Bryant Jennings is around that size. He'd still be a heavyweight, just a small one

Maybe because Holyfield is a clear ATG and Patterson isn´t? Forget about Holyfield having more chin than Patterson in two Liston bouts added up ...

Fine, but thats one win, Bowe got two!

I think the first Holyfield fight proved sufficiently that Bowe had Holyfield's number prime for prime. That was when both guys were at their best, or closest to it.

    https://media.tenor.com/images/4d92ccee636f7eeedeee5f3a34b4ce9d/raw !!

In the way it happened, I rate Foremans win over Frazier ahead (some argue Frazier was gone though).

    Ali over Foreman of course.

    Schmeling over Louis maybe.

Frazier over layoff Ali, no because of the rust.

Worth noting, McCall stopping young undefeated 25-0 Lewis for the WBC. But we know his prime came later.

    Holyfield was 1000% prime.
