You're acting as if Ali is consistently a consensus #1 on these things, and that Duran is a bottom of the barrel tomato can. Incidentally, in the series of surveys I did several years back in the ESB Classic Forum, Duran did place higher than Ali (by the slimmest of margins, however). P4P RESULTS *1. 1102 Sugar Ray Robinson (34) 2. 677 Harry Greb (7) 3. 617 Henry Armstrong (2) 4. 542 Sam Langford (8 ) 5. 265 Ezzard Charles 6. 236 Roberto Duran 7. 231 Muhammad Ali (1) 8. 179 Bob Fitzsimmons (2) 9. 152 Willie Pep 10. 138 Benny Leonard (1) Read more at http://www.eastsideboxing.com/2012/...nal-8-weight-classes-p4p/#KI2DW3I42RuGDX1K.99
The classic forum has a hard on for Duran and think he can walk on water. So it doesn't surprise me most real atg list have Ali anywhere from 1-3 or 5 th at the lowest. The esb list is one of the worst I've seen.
Well, I think the compilation of survey lists (that included the original 8 weight classes, and a separate one for P4P) are pretty damn good myself. Results listed below. And please, pray tell, what constitutes a "real" ATG list? :smoke HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Heavyweights Receiving Votes: 22 Number of Voting Participants: 80 Poll Started: June 23, 2009 Poll Closed: July 19, 2009 To read and debate the All-Time Heavyweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4526400&posted=1#post4526400 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=20560&more=1 LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected Light Heavyweights Receiving Votes: 26 Number of Voting Participants: 47 Poll Started: July 20, 2009 Poll Closed: August 20, 2009 To read and debate the All-Time Light Heavyweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156260&page=12 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=20966&more=1 MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected Middleweights Receiving Votes: 36 Number of Voting Participants: 45 Poll Started: August 26, 2009 Poll Closed: September 23, 2009 To read and debate the All-Time Middleweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164758&page=14 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=21290&more=1 WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected Welterweights Receiving Votes: 35 Number of Voting Participants: 43 Poll Started: September 23, 2009 Poll Closed: October 22, 2009 To read and debate the All-Time Welterweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171361&page=14 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=21708&more=1 LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Lightweights Receiving Votes: 27 Number of Voting Participants: 32 Poll Started: October 30, 2009 Poll Closed: November 19, 2009 To read and debate the All-Time Lightweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=179997&page=15 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=22210&more=1 FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Featherweights Receiving Votes: 28 Number of Voting Participants: 30 Poll Started: December 9, 2009 Poll Closed: January 19, 2010 To read and debate the All-Time Featherweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191008&page=7 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=22787&more=1 BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Bantamweights Receiving Votes: 26 Number of Voting Participants: 23 Poll Started: February 10, 2010 Poll Closed: April 27, 2010 To read and debate the All-Time Bantamweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205064&page=4 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=24133&more=1 FLYWEIGHT DIVISION RESULTS: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Flyweights Receiving Votes: 24 Number of Voting Participants: 16 Poll Started: April 29, 2010 Poll Closed: September 22, 2010 To read and debate the All-Time Flyweight Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222555&page=5 To read the article inspired by this survey: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=25169&more=1 P4P RESULTS: This content is protected This content is protected Fighters Receiving Votes: 41 Number of Voting Participants: 56 Poll Started: September 23, 2010 Poll Closed: October 27, 2010 To read and debate the All-Time P4P Poll: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=11083374&posted=1#post11083374
I dont even know where to start with you. Thats the most idiotic thing I've ever heard in my life. What is wrong with you. You have no business on a boxing forum if you can say Duran. DURAN. Mr "NO MAS". MR I CANT BE DISCIPLINED AND KEEP MY WEIGHT DOWN. A dude whos better known by who he lost to than who he beat is better technically than Ali was. Thats ridiculous.
I couldn't agree more. They just had a no mas special on espn. Duran is still remembered by casuals and some fans for his quit job in the biggest fight of his life.
That kind of reinforced my point, that the 2 are extremely close in the rankings, and it ultimately comes down to personal preference. :smoke
