You're acting as if Ali is consistently a consensus #1 on these things, and that Duran is a bottom of the barrel tomato can.

Incidentally, in the series of surveys I did several years back in the ESB Classic Forum, Duran did place higher than Ali (by the slimmest of margins, however).

    P4P RESULTS
    *1. 1102 Sugar Ray Robinson (34)
    2. 677 Harry Greb (7)
    3. 617 Henry Armstrong (2)
    4. 542 Sam Langford (8 )
    5. 265 Ezzard Charles
    6. 236 Roberto Duran
    7. 231 Muhammad Ali (1)
    8. 179 Bob Fitzsimmons (2)
    9. 152 Willie Pep
    10. 138 Benny Leonard (1)

The classic forum has a hard on for Duran and think he can walk on water. So it doesn't surprise me most real atg list have Ali anywhere from 1-3 or 5 th at the lowest. The esb list is one of the worst I've seen.

Well, I think the compilation of survey lists (that included the original 8 weight classes, and a separate one for P4P) are pretty damn good myself.

    Results listed below.

And please, pray tell, what constitutes a "real" ATG list?

I dont even know where to start with you. Thats the most idiotic thing I've ever heard in my life. What is wrong with you. You have no business on a boxing forum if you can say Duran. DURAN. Mr "NO MAS". MR I CANT BE DISCIPLINED AND KEEP MY WEIGHT DOWN. A dude whos better known by who he lost to than who he beat is better technically than Ali was.

    Thats ridiculous.

I couldn't agree more. They just had a no mas special on espn. Duran is still remembered by casuals and some fans for his quit job in the biggest fight of his life.

That kind of reinforced my point, that the 2 are extremely close in the rankings, and it ultimately comes down to personal preference.
