Mosley was obviously the more talented guy, was undefeated at the weight, and would be favored H-2-H over Castillo. However, Mr. I Can't Make Weight's resume at 135 takes an Al Bundy **** all over Mosley's resume at 135.

Who ranks higher all-time at 135?

Mosley never unified, and taking account the crap stack of fighters he battled at the weight, its all peanuts with respect to JLC's resume at lightweight. H2H, I'd take Mosley any day of the week though.

I think Castillo's resume is good but overrated.

It seems every decent contender type he fought like an aging Casamayor for instance get pumped up into really significant wins.

he had a good career and was an overachiever relative to his talent, but i put him about on par with a Jose luis Ramirez, not the greats or even borderline greats of the division.still, a very solid fighter.

Mosley is a bit harder to judge. If he had fought Johnston and Grigorian it would be an easier call where he rates.

Mosley is looked at as a great 125 pounder by many, and he looked it, but the resume there doesnt reflect it really, people can always detract from his legacy at 135 and justify doing so. Castillo for me can be called a great 135 pounder, though not a top tier elite lever lightweight in the division's history by my reckoning. He did fight the top lightweights of his era and beat some of the top contenders for his crown who were right for the title shot, i respect that a lot. But in terms of who was the greater lightweight of the two it's hard and subjective. You could likely make a case for either man, my new found respect for Castillo may make me edge towards him, resme based mostly, but the case can be made for Shane, beat his opponents with relative ease and possibly one could say with the air of a great lightweight.
