Excellent post. Compresses the whole debate and ends it nicely.

Yeah, in a very vague way that does not affect ****.

Stop trying to talk **** about how you are doing this for the benefit of the BBC or some crap.

You did it so Calzaghe lost a poll, at least admit it. If it wasn't you making the thread it might actually look like an innocent thread with no agenda pushing.

Have you listened to last nights show yet? The guy who was on the show (a show on national radio) stating that Calzaghe was superior to Lewis - was posting on here yesterday.

You are seriously wide of the mark on this one regarding my intentions, TFFP.

In 10 years time more people will give Joe the nod..we'll wait and see.

Lewis did fight during a golden era in the heavyweight divison. Problem is..he never faced his main rivals when they were prime..not Bowe, Holyfield or Tyson. Lennox was busy with his nemesis Oliver McCall.

Call me a hardcore Calzaghe fan if you want...but I dont start threads proclaiming his greatness or threads bashing fighters I dislike.

It is easy to put Lewis ahead at the moment IMO.

He has finished his career and we have had five years to digest his full works. Calzaghe is still going, he is fighting fighters who are still going. Fighters who's reputations could change and thus affect how Calzaghe should be rated.

This question will be easier to answer five years or so after Joe has fought his last fight.

Yes, and in disagreement with BBC boxing radio's unanimous viewpoint on this - stating it's easily Joe Calzaghe - I think we can safely say the whole forum apart from a few hardcore fans, Vote Lewis!

(The Americans are even more adamant about this in World forum!)

So why are they saying different on BBC Radio, and on our airwaves?

Why on the BBC, a public broadcast funded radio, are they totally and utterly ridiculing, the idea of a fight with Chad Dawson - but promoting the idea of a fight with Taylor, Woods, or Johnson instead?

    Answers please?

Because lou dibella promotes Taylor and Johnson..and he was the one that was raving about Calzaghe the most.

Bunce gave his opinion that the 2x knock out defeats and the fact Lewis never faced his main rivals as the reason he rates Joe higher.

Lewis had many solid wins but what would you say was his best?

Ruddock? Who earned his rep losing twice to Tyson
Golota? Who earned his rep quitting twice vs Bowe

Lewis had a LOT of good wins, hence none of them really stand out.

His best performance, in relation to the guy he was facing, probably Holyfield I, when he won easily.

Calzaghe's best wins stand out because there are relatively few of them in comparison.

    Not hating, merely stating fact.

Thing is of course, Lewis's stock can rise even further over the next 5 years too. Larry Holmes arguably didn't get his due until a good 15 years+ after he was The Man in the division, and he wasn't the only current ATG to go through the same.
