The funny part is this: The thread asks "who ranks higher all-time". Yet some Calzaghe die-hard fans post funny stuff like "Joe edges Lewis p4p" or "ok, yeah, BUT who is more beatable", to avoid answering or admitting that their man is inferior at something. Damn, nobody is superman!

One of them even posted "Lewis is greater".....but voted for Calzaghe. :verysad

Lewis has a 'slightly better' resume....**** off :rofl

If we're talking about physical advantages here then Calslappy had the same advantages over most of his opponents in that they were either shot, or ****. It's easy to say you're a 10 year world champion with multiple defences when you've got the WBO lining up bums for you to dispose of.

Put it this way, if Calslappy had been a heavyweight there's no way in hell he'd have fought Mason or Bruno or Ruddock at the times Lewis fought them, and he'd have waited until Holyfield was 3 or 4 years older too before he got into the ring with him. He'd have dodged Golota, Grant and Tua too, too dangerous. Also can you imagine Calslappy taking on VITLAY at a weeks notice when an opponent pulled out? No ****ing chance in hell, he'd have tried to get Ross Purrity.

Calslappy fans are right up there with the Klit-ites in spouting bull****. How the hell he can be P4P better than Lennox when he's only fought at 168 and 175 is beyond me, especially when you consider the 2 opponents he's faced at 175, 43 years old (who he flat out lost to) and 39 years old and shot to **** :patsch

If you want to talk P4P I believe Lewis started at around 220ish and finished at 253, I make that a 33lb difference as opposed to the Welsh cowards measly 7lbs.

This is a joke,,,,,no question JOE,,,,,,,,he been the man at his division for eight years, beat hopkins, has no losses, sure he not known as well as lewis, but lewis lost twice, had many of close fights, some that could of gone either way, an the top guy he should of fought tyson, he did not fight till tyson was alot more shot then jones was,,,,,,,,,,,NO, joe, an if he stick around for two years, he still won't get the credit from you guys,,,,an there first tought challenger that lewis did come across, vitali, he retired instead of giving him a rematch..................Joe, no question

Old enough to be around when lewis ran in retirment. rather then give a rematch to vitali.....Old enough to have seen rahamem drop lewis, old enough have seen mccall beat lewis, an in the rematch be pretty much in another world,,,,old enough to remember hopkins being offered a eight million to fight on showtime, three fight deal an in the last fight it would be against joe, then ask for 20 million instead..,,that was before lacy fight.......Old enough to know joe is p4p better fighter then lewis. :hi:

I see. So if Calzaghe retires right now and doesn't rematch Hopkins, does that mean it should affect his legacy somehow, or that we should hold that against him and imply he's a coward (as you do with Lewis)?

Funny you Calzaghe NUTHUGGERS diss Lewis for not giving Vitali a rematch, yet at the same time you claim Joe "doesn't need to fight Dawson etc.". Oh, and lets not forget this too>>> Calzaghe: I don't do rematches. :good

Thank god you people are FEW.

Calzaghe is better. More fights than Lewis and never beaten. Always finds a way to win often adapting after early difficulties. Lewis being ko'd twice against good not great fighters is a big negative. Calz. chin is better, taken many great shots over the years and gets off the matt even better every time he's been knocked down. The heavyweight "1 punch can take anyone out" arguement is crap and disproven by the likes of Ali, Marciano, Chuvalo, McCall. The Ray Mercer fight does not help his standing either.

First of all, the question here is not "who is better" (although I don't understand how you say Joe is "better" anyway), but who ranks higher all time.

As I have said numerous times in this thread, there's more than just the "zero" and adaptability when you rank a fighter. If the "zero" and the chin were major factors, then I guess we wouldn't have guys WITH LOSSES rank higher than undefeated fighters, would we?

Quality of opposition comes into play here, this is a BIG factor when ranking fighters all time and there Lewis has a massive advantage over Calzaghe. The way you guys analyze this, Sven Ottke has a case for being greater than Lewis.

Better? ranks higher? In the context of the question it's the same thing, wtf bother bringing that up?

The zero and the chin are contributing major factors and must be taken into account. Calz. competition has been very good, not as high as Lewis , and that's another major factor.

Calzaghe's consistancy, focus, and adaptability have kept him undefeated. Lewis' lack of focus has caused him 2 losses. This is a huge advantage for Calz. in comparing their standings

Lewis chin, being ktfo twice by two decent heavyweights, is a big red check in his negative column. Just as Ali's chin record is a giant black check in his positive column. Calzaghe's chin record also gives him an advantage compared to Lewis. When knocked down, fact that Calz. comes off the canvas with ferocity every time also favors him over Lewis.

Then there's Calzaghe's hands. Faced with this big disadvantage, where he cannot apply full force to his opponents and they know it going in, he's managed to continue beating guys again and again.

Joe in my opion won that fight with hopkins with ease, after the early rounds i had joe sweep the rest of them...were vitali was ahead on the score cards, an i think would of stopped lewis that night........but i would like to see joe give hopkins a rematch, i think if were not that low blow, joe was about to put a beat on hopkins, if i was joe my next fight would be hopkins, an dawson, your type of guy who would call him over rated after joe beats his ass.....Calzaghe had people ducking him, were as lewis ducked people, :hi:

  15. Right now - Lewis, by a country mile... joe beats dawson - and both dawson and kessler make a great legacy - in maybe 10-15 years time, calzaghe might not be far... You'll laugh - but how many fighters have been slated when they retired, and several years down the line are rated very highly...

That's what i think could happen anyway...
