Who ranks higher all time Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe?

I'd say Lewis, but if Calzaghe could past the 50-0 mark he could get there. For me personally I'd always but Lewis ahead of him but if he did get to that magic 50-0 mark it could certainly be argued that he had a better career.

 

They are both top 75 for me.

Same reply as in the Brit forum. I like both fighters but I think statements that Lennox fought higher calibre, top quality fighters throughout his whole career is something that seems to have developed since he retired. This thread shows what time can do to a fighter's legacy. I have a lot of respect for Lennox as a fighter and a guy, but even the warm comfort of retirement still cannot place a pair of rose-tinted shades over Rahman and McCall's names. Are you honestly calling Rahman and McCall elite fighters???? It is also the case that many of the opponents who Lennox is now lionized for beating are of no greater standing than the 'bums' on Calzaghes resume, whilst his biggest wins were against 'past their prime' legends similar to Calzaghe's. The Klitschko fight then threw up more questions than answers, seeing Lennox leave with unfinished business which he hopefully isn't thinking about redressing now. Calzaghe spent too many years in the relative shadows, and can now either rubber stamp a legacy or bow out with similar reservations about his worth flying around. Although as this thread demonstrates, he may have nothing to worry about as time goes by.

The fact that Lennox always fought over in the U.S and fought the best opposition, puts him ahead of Calzaghe. He also beat better fighters as well and plenty of champions.

 

Lewis fought dangerous opposition his whole career, you only have to look at his record to see that. Look at the Welsh cowards record and all you'll see is bums, right up until he fought Lacy and even then he slipped in Manfredo and Bika before he fought Kessler, and then two old men. This poll is about 75% - 25% in Lewis's favour right now and I'm genuinely amazed there's enough idiots in the world to make it that close.
