Past it? He was coming off his best performance. McLellon beat Jackson but other then that he was largely untested. Mugabi, Baptist decentish fighters. Tszyu was an ATG, McLellon wasn't.

I agree.....The was Hatton's summit for me. Hatton has not performed as good as that since and he did not start to move away in that contest until the 8th Round IMO....

Tyszu was just past it, but so schooled and conservative with every shot...and so humble at the end of the contest.....what makes that win more special is that Tyszu was retired on his stool....:-(

    100% spot on....

How anyone could expect Malinaggi to go to the well so soon after a war with Cotto and expect him to beat Hatton must have been off it.... I thought the Malinaggi fight saw a freshened up Hatton, nowt different just a bit of the old hunger against a fighter who in his own words said that his fight with Cotto at MSG was "Like boxing the devil in Hell".....:scaredas:

I also think that contest gave Hatton a false sense of security....The Magic Man gave a great performance against Cotto....but Cotto was not Mayweather or Pac Man....... not by a long shot....:yep

Benn all the way. He destroyed Barclay and who can forget the G-Man fight. Hatton in comparison has done nothing. Every time he stepped it up he was exposed.

Kostya was one minute taking dancing lessons and next minute he gets a million dollar offer to fight Hatton. Hatton huggers not pretend that this was prime Kostya.

    Come on JT :nut

I think the key word in your post is that Tszyi WAS an ATG but when he fought Hatton he was no where near his best. Ali was an ATG but beaten by Berbick so beating an ATG hardly matters if the ATG was not in his prime.

Honeyghan beating Curry ranks above Hatton beating Tszyu. Did not even have a home crowd or dodgy ref to allow him to wrestle like a gay lord all night either.

Oh Yes, Big ****in time & 4 the Undisputed Title:yep I've got 2 put this one just up on Benn's win over the GMAN:smoke **** it, joint top, unfair 2 split-em:lol:

GMAN was just one fight away from the mega-fight showdown with Roy Jones, it was a done deal all except that Nigel was an inconvienience that was in the way & had 2 be dealt with & if any green horn underplays this fight then i suggest they go watch it & check out Don Kings face at the end + Warrens the treacherous ****er:smoke

A rough British best list over the 20 years or so I have been watching boxing:

    1. Lewis
    2. Calzaghe
    3. Hamed
    4. Benn
    5. Hatton
    6. Eubank (top six box some distance and all HOF candidates)

After this nobody really stands out, the likes of Woods, Reid, Woodhall, Nelson, Thompson, Witter etc... have all had decent careers but nothing on the level of the above).

  13. Come on guys, Hatton HAS to rank higher than Benn.

Yeah I've got benn higher than Hatton.... although I wouldn't have Benn just outside in the top three if we're talking since the war.... I'd have him at about nine ot ten. But yeah, the McCellan fight was more impressive to me than the Tzsyu fight with Hatton. Not that that wasn't impressive too though.
