Who ranks higher in the Brit ATG list: Benn or Hatton?

Not even close..............................Benn..........a true warrior............Hatton = Overratted

 

Benn beat a prime McClellan. Only British boxer of last 25 years to surpass him is Lennox.

 

Indeed he was good. Good times the early 1990's.

 

I rate Hatton over Benn personally, he was the best 140 lber for about 4 yrs solid & only lost to the no1 p4p best albeit on 2 separate occasions.

 

We don't know if that is true because during that 4 year period he did not fight the other best 140 lbers. When he fought people at or around their peak he struggled ( Collazo ) or lost.

 

benn had a lot of padding on his record as well though.

some of those wbc title defences were mediocre.

benn's best wins were mcclellan, barkley, de witt, malinga 1.

when u actually put it into perspective hatton has the better wins. :good

 

You can add the Robbie Sims fight to that list. Benn was the only man to knock him out, that counts for something surely. Hatton had alot of padding in his record. Its closer than the poll suggests though thats for sure.

 

in short, Hatton's carrer was very carefully guided and his fanbase manipulate for the man's own gain and at the expense of the greater good of the sport. Benn on the other hand was a straight-up warrior who had the stones to fight anyone....apart from Toney maybe.
He was better than Hatton, had bigger wins that Hatton, was waaaaay more exciting that Hatton and was much better for the sport than Hatton.

As I said before, anyone eho actually watched Hatton-Collazo and Benn-Eubank II for example, would be wondering how the **** the former has a win on his record for it, and the latter a draw.
Bare stats don't tell a full story.
Trust your own eyes and your instincts, then someone try and tell us Hatton was the better fighter.

The Benn-Barkley fight was hilarious....Benn sets about him and blatantly hits him late when The Blade is down...the American commentators were well pissed off .
My bro backed Benn at 33/1 to win in those early rounds, aside from his style and massive punch, Barkley had had serious trouble with his eyes (retinas?). Dunno if that had any direct link with the 1st round loss however.

McClellan was moving up for the first time in weight don't forget. It was his one and only fight at SMW. He also had some questionable bouts beforehand, along with the obvious medical questions in training (well according ot some sources).

Having said that personally I prefer Benn as a fighter to watch (and think his resume is possibly better).

I'd put him above Hatton, but I don't like the way Hatton's stock has plummeted so much simply for getting knocked out by prime versions of two of the best boxers ever to walk on the planet.
