A great performance, though by the sake token the Davis fight indicates he probably wasn't going to emerge unscathed if he comes along those few years earlier.

That said, i don't expect many fighters to go unbeaten if fighting against numerous other genuinely excellent fighters in a deep era, so it's not really a criticism.

Pacquiao for me. Greater longevity equals greater achievement equals greater depth. The multi-weight success just another edge. They're in the same region, but Pac is slightly ahead in my book.

Between the end of Fosters reign and Mike moving up to Heavy I have Saad behind Spinks only. I've never understood peeps ranking Qawi higher, even if he did beat Saad x2.

Wassaja was part of the immortal Ugandan 70s amatuer setup with kalule, Boza Edwards etc

Another contender who actually had an decent run before his title shot.Beat Andries, Celestine, Bunny Johnson, Peralta, Bunny Sterling and Jesse Burnett. Also forced an old Foster to quit. Not many of those fighters were at their best however.

Quite a tidy fighter, but couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag and not sharp enough to compensate for that against the best of the top ten at the time.

I think a lot of it is down to the two Saad fights which are on the surface among the most dominantly won of the era between two top fighters.

He instantly looked less impressive against lesser talents who just happened to be fresher though, and imo proved to be the mentally weakest and most unpredictable in-ring.i've never agreed with him being rated de facto number 2...he had his plus point and weaknesses like the rest.

Yeah, I think in time he will be rated that high. Fly to WW is a big step, MAB, JMM, Erik, Lebada, Suksul, Hatton, Cotto, Margorito, Hoya etc.... is very great.

He beats 99% of other heavies, but does he beat Tucker? Thomas? Carl Williams? 19yo Tyson? A very good win but Holmes wasn't quite the same fighter of years ago, his mobility, stamina and speed all badly diminished

Guzman's the best pure boxing talent post-Jones and he still beat Funeka what the hell happened to Funeka anyway?

Yes, he beats all of those fighters with the possible exception of Tyson.

Funeka got banned for an illegal dieting potion ;-)

And he clearly won their first fight. Guzman is pants.

I'm not sure Spinks beats Tucker myself.

    We're talking Holmes, brah.

Spinks would have trouble with any of the big hitters at Heavyweight outside of an inactive and slightly intoxicated Gerry Cooney.

There's a case for Guzman winning 6 rounds of that fight. What did Funeka take diuretics? I thought everyone did

Not so sure myself, all those men were serious talents in their prime and underrated today
