At the moment I'd have Chavez Sr, but it'd be quite close. Some still depends on how Mayweather finishes his career.

I think its very clearly Julio Cesar Chavez, fought better fighters closer to their prime, he was a legit 3 weight champion & has a solid argument for being the best ever 130 lber (as does floyd & Arguello) & 140 lber... he never spent that long at 135 but probably looked even better there than he did at 130 or 140... welterweight wasn`t for him but he still reached an incredible 87-0 before his first blemish at that weight vs Whitaker.

Holds the record for most title fights & defenses in boxing history, was p4p best fighter in the world at his best & has one of if not thee longest unbeaten streak in boxing history.

Anyone that votes floyd over Chavez is a ****in ******ed mong that needs to brush up on their boxing history, that is all.

floyd could have put himself in the discussion with the Chavez`s of the world if he beat pacquiao when pac looked at his best, THATS the stuff of legends, he delayed until it doesn`t matter anymore... you cannot put a guy like that up against a man like Chavez who stepped UP a weight to fight a brilliant fighter like Whitaker just to show the fans a p4p best in the world contest.... floyd doesn`t deserve that much praise, its an insult to Chavez career to put floyd up against him tbh.

Floyd does not belong in the same sentence as Chavez, Sr.

Most agree both of their peaks were at 135 tho clearly Floyd's most important wins were above 135 and performed better than Chavez above 135, but 130 for me is 50/50 and 135 Chavez is better h2h aside from having better resume there. Maybe not a better lightweight, but he could be a better fighter if he beats Maravilla.

It depends on how good Chavez looks vs Martinez in September.

Floyd. He beat better fighters and was a better boxer.

Who the **** did Chavez Sr. beat?

Uncle Roger? Rocky Lockridge, Edwin Rosario? Jose Luis Ramirez?

Meldrick Taylor was a very good win, though. And, btw, Whitaker beat Chavez.
