I think Pacquiao fans will rewrite history, they will say he won the Junior Middle weight title but Junior middle weight aint 150, they will say he beat near prime Cotto but 145 don't impress very much, they will act like Margarito hadn't already been caught cheating, they will act like JMM didn't win any of the first 3 fights and they will pretend he didn't turn down 40,million cause he didn't want to take drug test and don't get me started on no,one one talking about Williams wanting to fight him.

What had Hopkins achieved when Roy beat him???? He had at that point literally accomplished nothing... an ok win sure, but not an ATG win.

Don't agree with that, also Toney lost quite a few times in his prime.

Hopkins at his peak, is on a whole 'nother level to Barrera. But that version of Hopkins, while not yet at his peak, but definitely in his prime, was a slightly more quality opponent than the Barrera that Pac fought. And definitely less shopworn.

Just compare what Hopkins did in his division after losing to Roy, compared to what Barrera did after losing to Pac.

What had Vitali acheived besides getting outboxed and STOPPED by a blown up Middleweight before losing to Lewis? Should that win not count for Lewis?

What had Azumah Nelson acheived before losing to Salvador Sanchez? Does that win not count for Sanchez?

What had Ken Norton done to prove his worth before BEATING Muhammad Ali?

That's some pretty shaky rationale for discounting a win.

Roy has never missed a fight with a boxer on the level of Floyd Mayweather.

Infact, Roy actually DEFEATED every single 1st ballot HOF'er that campaigned in his respective weight division(s) during his prime.

Can't say the same for Pacquiao.

look at it from the other side, mab was on a tear, p4p#3 when pac beat him bad.

hopkins was only like 3 years into boxing (without amateur experience) when roy beat him.

I'm not discounting Pac's win over Barerra. I just believe that Hopkins was a better fighter at the time. Unfortunately for him, his 1st oppurtunity to prove it came against a prime RJJ. And he didn't look all that overly outclassed in the ring with him. He certainly won more rounds than the 44-0, p4p #3 James Toney.

BTW, Hopkins was rated in the top 10 by the RING and rated #1 by the IBF at the time of their fight. So much for being a nobody.

And concerning his amateur experience. He actually had 100 amateur fights stretching all the way back to his pre-teen years. And at the time of the Roy Jones fight, had more pro fights than Roy himself.

I think Jones is unplayable H2H in his prime. But records matter, Pac went up more weight classes and dominated a better comp overrall.

The Barrera that had already been KTFO was better than that Hopkins now like you even saw the fight. :patsch

You have no shame. It's Roy Jones and it's not close.
