Joshua, Briedis and Gassiev are A tier fighters, Joshua and Gassiev were unified champs in extremely tough divisions when Usyk easily defeated them. Ask yourself this, did Crawford struggle more with Porter than Usyk struggled with Gassiev? Triangle theory isn't the best, but when two fighters are that far apart in caliber... The only person who's given Usyk as much trouble as Porter gave Crawford is Briedis, the current Ring CW champion, a three time CW champion only ever beat by Usyk. Usyk and Crawford just aren't close.

I suspect Crawford weighs a good 35lbs more than his actual fighting weight .. that is the definition of weight grifting and anathema to the concept of pound for pound in my opinion .. Usyk>Crawford. I've also noticed that most of Crawfords best opposition are fighters that are quite literally on their last legs… Porter, Brook etc.. Old, inactive & shopworn..

    Usyk Heavyweight fights (3 fights)

First heavyweight fight - Chazz Whetherspoon - solid warm up fight for his first fight at heavyweight.
Second Heavweight - Derek Chisora, ex world title challenger and gatekeeper of the division.
Third fight - Anthony Joshua, unified world champion.

Usyk cruiserweight record (last 5 fights)

Tony Bellew - ex cruiserweight world champion on a winning streak prior.
Murrat Gassiev - Was an undefeated world champion, beaten only be Usyk.
Mairis Bredis - Was an undefeated champion, beaten only by Usyk
Marco Huck - Joint longest reigning cruiserweight champion reign lasted over 6 years
Michael Hunter - contender now at heavyweight beaten only be Usyk

    Terence Crawford (Welterweight record)

Shawn Porter - ex world champion, beaten by Spence, Thurman and Brook in the past.
Kell Brook - Beaten by GGG and Spence and has had numerous eye issues since those fights.
Egidijus Kavaliauskas - first major fight at world level, since has been beaten by a welterweight contender marginally faster than Crawford.
Amir Khan - beaten by Garcia, Prescott, Peterson and Alvarez prior to his fight with Crawford.
Jose Bendavidez jr - beaten comprehensively beaten by Crawford and has drawn in his last fight.

Crawfords best wins were Postol, Gamboa, Brook, Khan, and Crawford.

I really don’t mind thinking Crawfords a better more skilled fighter, I can respect that view, but Usyk level of competition is extremely good, add a stellar amateur career to that, a willingness to fight anyone in their own backyard isn’t something be sniffed at.

Usyk has made a career fighting the very best at cruiserweight, then tuning up and fighting the best available fighter at heavyweight, Crawford has fought mainly fighters who aren’t elite level, or were and are no longer at that level.

Not saying it’s Crawfords fault, maybe it is his promoter but let’s not discredit Usyks opponents that’s just not on.

P4P, Usyks resume dismantles Crawfords therefore he is deservedly higher ranked.
