If Ricky beats Pacquiao he`s solidified his higher rating imo.Atm though i rate Hatton only slightly higher due to the Tszyu win. Both lost to top fighters both been in against similar opponents.

I voted Hatton but I can't really split them atm. Both 8/9 for me.Both have potential to elevate themselves also with the level of competiton they're set to face in 2009

hatton defeated a legit top 3 in koysta, mosely wasn't top 10 when cotto fought him. hatton also haas a win against castillo who was #8 at the time, cotto hasn't beaten a top 10 p4p fighter at the time of the fight yet. cotto is yet to even fight a defending belt holder, he only fights for vacant titles.

He certainly was in the Ring Rankings, which most people use as the definitive guide.

He wasn't in a lot of people's personal rankings, including mine.

yes, castillo was in the top 10.i just checked it, but wow..can't believe that he is still an elite fighter when hatton faced him...hatton was heavily favored in that fight..maybe bec castillo had just movied up in weight

Currently? Is this a serious question?

As Hatton didn't return to the top10 in his return fight vs. soft Lazcano, the Jennings victory shouldn't be enough for Cotto to get back on the top10, where he will return as soon as he fights someone like Hatton did, which was the very best the division could offer. Which is Mosley. But Clottey should be enough as well.

So in a P4P top20, Hatton ranks higher at this point.

I'd say that list favours Hatton slightly myself.
They're about even, Hatton probably takes it on recent achievements, Cotto on Head to Head.
