OFCOURSE, Pacquaio was 15 in his pro-debut, what weight was mayweather at 15? I don't know, doubt he was as high as 130, probably 118ish or lower. Lets not forget Pac was stopped at 112 because of his weight draining tactics

Cotto once fought Calderon in the amateurs, does that make Cotto a natural minimumweight?

JUST CHECKED MAYWEATHER WAS 106LBER GOLDEN GLOVES AT 16 YEARS OF AGE!!!!!

Mayweather was a un weight drained 125lb 19yo, Pacquaio was a 122lb weight draining 21yo

So if Mayweather started pro at the same age as Pacquiao you'd rate him higher?

Which means he weighed around 110, 112 when he was 18 and an adult male. Even playing by your rules it seems Pac is the naturally smaller man.

    As a proffessional? Certainly not.

Mayweather is naturally bigger but Pacquaio is bigger at 130 than a 23yo Mayweather was.

Is 130 not Pacquaio's best weight?

Point is Mayweather doesn't beat Pacquaio because hes bigger he beats him because hes better. Shrink Mayweather by 2 inches and take 2 inches of his reach and Mayweather would still be a large favourate due to skill advatanges

This is rather tedious but OK.

    MAYWEATHER AT 19: 130LBS

    PACQUIAO AT 19: 112LBS

    MAYWEATHER AT 22: 130LBS

    PACQUIAO AT 22: 122LBS

    MAYWEATHER AT 25: 134LBS

    PACQIAO AT 25: 130LBS

Pac is smaller. That's all. I don't see how it can be argued, to be honest.

And although i've already said so, for you benefit, I rate Mayweather above Pac. I just don't see it as "impossible" for Manny to overhaul Floyd.

But it is not only "skills advantage" that denotes "who ranks higher", is it? If Pac fought for another 10 years, fought and beat the best fighters at 135 and 140 you would still have Mayweather above him?

Mayweathers just better, unless Pacquaio develops some Duran like skills to go with his athletic ability yes I rate Mayweather higher. But Pacquaio is already physically declining.

Fighting for 10+ more years would be impressive longevity but it wouldn't change the fact that Mayweather is better in his prime than Pacquaio.

Sugar Ray Robinsons competition isnt the best yet he gets largely ranked P4P no1 of all time.

How about getting outboxed by a fighter a level below both such as Jose Luis Castillo, who more people than not thought he lost to in the first fight?

Whilst Floyd probably has the slightly better overall comp, you're embelleshing Floyd's record just a tad. I mean, someone could easily say things like Hernanez was old and past his best, Judah was coming off a loss to a dud in Baldomir, DLH was old and had lost plenty of fights before fighting Mayorga and still made it close, Castillo beat him in a lot of people's eyes and Castillo was coming off what many consider two losses to Stevie Johnston, Gatti was shot and not that good to begin with, Hatton had shown himself to be average at welter already etc.

    1. Most people haven't watched this fight, Mayweather swept the first 5 rounds, Castillo was just inactive, did Castillo win the last 7? No, so how did he win?

He didn't get outboxed at any stage he got outmuscled and got his ribs broke and broke his hand. He got the W but in the controversy did what many wouldn't rematched and won wide, what more do you want?

Anyway Castillo did pretty well considering hes a level below considering how he fought against Stevie Johnston, Cassamayor, Corrales not to mention all the other ranked guys he fought and beat

    2. I wasn't trying to embellesh Floyd's record. I know Judah was coming off a loss, but Morales was too and Morales is seen as a huge win where as Judah was seen as a not so great win for Mayweather. This is despite Judah being prime and losing because of overlooking his opponent and Morales losing because his legs had gone. Before Morales and Judah lost they were quite close on P4P lists

You can downtalk and uptalk any fighters record but overall Pacquaio doesn't have better opposition than Mayweather, rather the opposite.

    Bottom Line P4P fighters:

Mayweather 5: Corrales, Hatton, Castillo (future P4P), Castillo (future P4P), Delahoya (past P4P), Judah (past P4P)

Pacquaio 5: Barrera, Marquez (future P4P but based solely on his ), Morales twice (past P4P - not P4P when Pac beat him), Barrera (past - not P4P second fight), Marquez (current).

    Linear Champs:

Mayweather 7: Hernandez, Corrales (future), Castillo, Hatton, Judah (past), Baldomir, Delahoya (past)

Pacquaio 2: Barrera (current), Marquez (current debatable)...Morales was never linear

HoF-er Harry Harris was weighing 85 pounds in Sept. 1896, when he was 15 years old, but went on to win the bantamweight title in March 1901, when 20 years old. That Pacquiao began at such low weight is not that significant in P4P sense, because he was still a boy.

Mayweather wasn't the favourite for either of these fights. He was the underdog against Hernandez and his fight with Corrales was a pick'em.

Hernandez was actually a top 10 p4p fighter as well when he fought Mayweather, although right at the bottom.

Thats in hindsight mind. It would look worse for Mayweather if Hernandez was regarded to be old and past his best before the first bell rang and went onto dominate him. But that was far from being the case. Hernandez was the betting favourite and many thought Mayweather wasn't ready for his vastly experienced opponent. And lets be honest, Hernandez was hardly showing signs of decline prior to facing Mayweather.

I thought Hernandez had looked ordinary for years.he was definitely on the way out and old for the weightclass.

It was still a solid win for Floyd.

Floyd. I don't put much stock into a win over a guy like David Diaz, and Floyd was the far more skilled fighter of the two. Neither have brilliant resumes, but Pacquiao has the better names on his, despite the circumstances of those bouts. Floyd is probably top 50 on my list, Pacquiao is not.

How much do you think there is between them at this time?
