to help us in making our list of top 100 ATG, i think it would be a good idea to make this poll to see where to place these boxers in the ATG list.

i rank Moore higher than Tunney

Id say Tunney, both have outstanding records but I think Tunney was better at both LHWT & HWT + I think he wins the H2H match on their best days, or even most days.

Ive got Moore about half a dozen spots clear of Gene...His longevity is just crazy and his lightheavyweight resume is just about the best there is.

As for H2H, the only man I would definitively pick over Moore in a H2H match at light heavyweight would be the man who actually proved his dominance over him in Charles.

Its his longevity mainly, thats the breaker...He literally beat everyone there was to beat and more often then not several times..So many more great names on his ledger.
Gene gets a bit to much mileage of a smaller Greb and fading, semi-retired Dempsey. ..Dont take that as a knock on Tunney, he is a top20 alltime fighter in my book..its just he didnt do enough to eclipse what Moore did.

Tunney got thumbed in the eye sparing for the ssecond Dmepy fight and had a blind spot. So he never saw the punch that floored him. That was the reason he quit early.

Tunney lost to Greb once, and had a close fight at another's home town, who was also an ATG a bit later. There was one man he avoided until Tunney was better...the Guy lost a fight to Dempsey too. Not going to look it up.
The guy had a brother who was a fine Middle wieght too.

Moore lost many more fights "in his prime" Also Charles owned him.

The bloke fought 220 times in a career spanning nearly 30 years. The odd loss here and there is to be expected.

Are you referring to Tommy Gibbons, Bobo? Brother of Mike.

A great scalp on Tunney's record..As is Loughran, Levinsky and to a lesser extent Carpentier among several others. But if we are talking amount of quality scalps then Moore should have been made a honorary Mohican.
