absolutely. but though it's blasphemous to say, i think wlad has a faster jab than liston and may double it up better as well. liston's jab had more beef but wlad has dominated with a similar weapon as sonny's. i'd be VERY curious to see these two (say 58 liston) in a jabbing contest

If we can assume that a Wlad jab is as hard as that phantom punch (more of a slap) then in all likelihood Wlad puts Liston down with the first jab of the fight, then with the second, and the ref probably calls it off if he goes down after a third

edit; Actually that's not very likely at all. Forget I posted that one...

WHERE on God's Green Earth is the resume and hw title reign that puts Liston even in the top ten of HW's of all time. I see him on many lists and I just boggles my mind. H2h, sure I can possibly see that. But for all tim hw status you need more than how would someone do in a mythical matchup... you need resume and title reign... Liston really had neither.

in terms of resume, many people point to his years as best in the division before he won the title. you could you use the argument that he was the best in the division for years while patterson was champion. i don't know enough about the era to say that definitively

According to this line of argumentation, boxing in its golden age deprived the NFL of weak, slow of foot Joe Frazier, slow of foot Ali (check him out in the Superstars competition), body beautiful Larry Holmes (also admittedly slow of foot), short, uncoordinated Mike Tyson (read Holyfield's accounts of Tyson on a bball court)...

Fighters are fighters, plain and simple. Footballers play a game.

agreed. i dont buy into that argument myself...tlook at all the successful ex-football players and ex-basketball players who have come in and dominated boxing :bbb two ENTIRELY different things

If the guy is top level at the NBA or NFL, why would he want to go into boxing?

I think it is clear for most young athletes in the US, boxing is way down the list of preferred athletic options. Most of the other major sports offer the oppotunity for an education and much more solid financial rewards unless you are a superstar.

yep, and it's totally different in other countries. Everywhere outside of US boxing is number 1 sport.

Where exactly in this world is boxing the "number 1 sport"?

:rofl Maybe so. But on planet Earth, not really.

One thing you've got to realise though is that Odie actually humped Garfield and that's why Garfield is always so mean to him. He was humped, violently, in the arse. It was ****, essentially. It was unwitting ****, because Odie didn't know Garfield's arse from a hole in the ground. But, **** is ****, Hookie. Yes, Garfield has taken into account that Odie did it without understanding, which is why Odie is still alive. But, he's still always going to hold that pesky, old, anal **** grudge. And that's what truly keeps that comic alive.

That's the underlying tension, the drama, the historical context that makes it all make sense for the readers. It's dark comedy, one might say. Luke and Laura. Bert and Ernie. Em...help me out, here...what was the name of Bruce and Cybill's characters in that one? Dramedy, anyway, is what I'm saying.

Any idea what Samson Dutch Boy Gym's title fight record is? It's pretty good. I hear.

    :think Mypos?

h2h obviously liston wipes out wladdie in seconds.

but wlad has been around long enough to warrant higher acheivements of course.

Interestingly enough I still agree with what I stated previously.

Wlad has achieved far more and has a far deeper resume.

Liston wipes the floor with him h2h.

But now I favour h2h so Liston moves above him.
