Specious reasoning. The book isn't even closed on Arreola.

Already he is better than Scott Frank, Ziggy, King Roman, Coopman, Evangelista, Tangstad, Lubbers, Leon Spinks, LeDoux, Zanon...

If you're near Big Bear, go tell him what you think. I believe he's up there training.

He's actually on something of a roll now, lost some weight, and getting up in the ratings.

But, oh, I suppose fat-ass, cigar chomping eye-gouging psychopath Tony Galento is more praise-worthy.

Seamus, I wouldn't call any of the guys you mention solid names either, not when discussing top flight contenders, anyway...

Wlad may rank higher but Liston would have crushed him ...

Sonny Liston's WINopponents CONSIST WITHOUT EXCEPTION ONLY of

    • bums (A non bum is somebody with atleast 12 fights and a 75% win ratio)
    • guys who have been KO'ed before
He also had the luxury to outweight 88% of his opponents (Wlad "only" 40-50%, Ali did it in +-42% in his fights)

His 200x2 record (both at 200+ lbs) is not worth mentioning as Chuck Wepner is in the top 5.

I might get hated for this.

Meh, they're both top notch alltime greats... And like all fighters they each have deficiencies. Otherwise its slicing **** hairs.

I think Wlad has done enough to pass Liston in terms of ATG but it's still pretty close. My issue with the current division is you get cruiserweights who fought two or three heavyweight fights getting title shots. Seems to me you'd want at least someone with 15-20 heavyweight fights under their belts before challenging for titles. Experience has to count for something. And going from cruiser weight to fighting a super heavyweight is a huge, huge jump. Bottom line there really aren't enough talented and experienced fighters in the 240lb+ range to give the K brothers much competitiion. When Lewis/Holyfield/Tyson were fighting there was prime Briggs, Ruddock, Golota, Bowe, all were both big and talented. Hell

Yeah, but those cruisers were the strapping heavies of yesteryear.

And how big was Marty Marshall?

My own view is that Sonny Liston was the better fighter and would knock out Wlad head to head. At the same time Wlad has had consistancy and some longevity now and he deserves credit for that. Wlad has lived a clean life and has been able to stick around in a tough sport.

Sonny on the other hand had alot of things going on outside the ring. The Mafia controlling his career didnt didnt help matters. The Sonny Liston story just isnt all that simple.

In a tangible way got to favor Klit. It also helps that he didnt have to face a prime Muhammad Ali

Wlad achieved much much more than Liston.

Depending on criteria you could argue pretty strongly Liston has a stronger resume.

Wlad has room to increase his legacy though, I have him infront now and that's only gonna increase.

LufCrazy, I don't take your list seriousely since you have Liston at # 17 and foreman at # 5. Laughable.

    Liston > Foreman

Well my list isn't compiled to your criteria so I have no burning desire for you to take it seriously :good

Plus I've changed it slightly, Foreman has overtaken Holmes and moved into 4th, Liston has dropped below Tunney and moved into 18th :good
