That's...perhaps the most pathetically one-sided bias i've ever seen Hookie.

It did make me cringe reading it. I mean talking down the valdes victory and talking up the mercer victory was a bit too much.

I thought the "Monte Barratt would probably beat Machen & Folley" (I'm paraphrasing) was the real low point.

    More spin than Shane Warne...

Name one fighter Liston beat that wasn't previously knocked out or isn't a bum (non bum =12+ fights, 75%+ win ratio)
The median KO ratio of his opponents were a "Mike Tyson like..." 25%... (sarcasm)
(His percentage of outweighing opponents is a lot higher than Wlad)

Don Smith, knocked out before+ bum
Ponce de Leon knocked out before + bum
    Bennie Thomas bum
    Martin Lee bum
    Stanley Howlett bum
Paulie Simpson knocked out before + bum
Johnny Summerlin knocked out before, first non bum (In his rematch Liston won a SD against Summerlin with a fractured nose)
----Marty Marshall knocked out before by a 177 pounder and a bum... Sonny Liston lost this fight.
Neal Welch knocked out before + bum
    Emil Brtko bum
Calvin Butler knocked out before + bum
Johny Gray knocked out before + bum
Larry Watson knocked out before + bum
Marty Marshall knocked out before + bum
    Billy Hunter bum
Ben Wise knocked out before in the previous fight in round one + bum
Bert Whitehurst knocked out before + bum
Julio Mederos knocked out before + bum
    Wayne Bethea bum
frankie Daniels knocked out before + bum
Ernie Cab knocked out before + bum
    Mike DeJohn knocked out before
    Cleveland Williams knocked out before
Nino Valdes knocked out before bum (not the biggest bum, still bum)
    Willie Besmanoff bum
Howard King knocked out before + bum
Roy Harris (I count RTD as knocked out, or TKO, whatever) knocked out before
    Zora folley knocked out before
    Eddie Machen knocked out before
    Albert Westphal knocked out before
    floyd Patterson knocked out before
    ----Muhammad Ali he lost.
    Gerhard Zech knocked out before
Amos Johnson knocked out before + bum
Dave Bailey knocked out before + bum
Elmer Rush knocked out before + bum
Bill McMurray knocked out before + bum
Billy Joiner knocked out before + bum

To be continued, getting tired now.

31 times of the 50 wins he had, had a loss in their previous 2 fights.

Prime Sonny Liston only has a chance of beating Wlad Klit if you took '60 Liston and had him face the pre 2005 Wlad....... The Wlad Klit who took the IBF title away from Chris Byrd in 2006 to the present time of kayoing Tony Thompson in '12, would leave Liston in serious deep **** and kissing canvas, if the ref doesn't jump in and save Sonny before he falls.......

Shove your stats up your arse as without context they're meaningless.

If 5 of the top 6 fit your criteria what is he to do? Fight lower ranked guys just because they've never been stopped?

Liston was a cherry picker, in 31 of his 50 wins, the fighter had a loss in his previous 2 fights.

You're saying that is acceptable for an "atg" because he is old school, but when Wladimir would do that you would making a thread saying how the HW era is dead.
If you ever want to see a heavyweight with a slower performance than Valuev then watch Sonny Liston. His arms (84") look freakishly long and disproportionate. Sometimes he throws them around like foreign bodies (similar to overlong pajama sleeves) and there is always an aura of uncoordination around Sonny Liston:

    • Wild swings
    • Missed punches
    • Telegraphed haymakers
    • Jabs that often fail to connect
    • Defense wide open (cannot use his arms to properly cover himself)
    • Not throwing a punch but stretching out the arm and then march forward
Sonny Liston's opponents CONSIST WITHOUT EXCEPTION ONLY of

    • opponents he outweighed (88% of his wins)
    • opponents coming off a loss (or had a loss within 1 year prior to bout)
    • opponents who never KO'ed anyone in their entire career
    • and heavyweight featherfist Cleveland Williams

Sult Iggy is a southpaw with good left hand power... Yes, that fight of 2007 or '08 sucked balls due to styles, but Iggy is not a *****....... Iggy earlier schooled Holyfield in Russia.....

I stand by my convictions, Wlad Klit stops a '60 Liston one way or another as long as Manny Steward is training Wlad.....

When did I ever say the hw era is dead?

What I actually said was Wlad is in my top ten and Liston is outside my top fifteen.

I'm not sure what oldschool has to do with anything, I just told you to shove stats up your arse as they are removed from context.

I read it again, so now that I'm still confused of your logic, maybe you're nice enough to explain it. You don't have to do it, but I'd like to understand why would you think that Wlad would 'surpass' Louis by unifying all the belts.

Just telling it like it is my boxing forum brother. Sometimes the truth hurts... sometimes it feels good... do what the hell you want... I know I would LOL.

I like Liston. I consider him great, but I also think he gets overrated a good bit.

As for Wladimir? I actually think his big brother deserves the higher ranking and I've always considered Vitali the better Klitschko overall. Durability is an underrated thing sometimes... especially in the HW division. Anyway, Wladimir has some good numbers and that can't be ignored. He's beat giants, he's beat slick boxers, he's stopped guys who were never stopped before. He's also been stopped, so was Liston and every other HW World Champ except for Tunney, Marciano, and Bowe... at least he avenged one of the KO losses... something Liston never did.

Liston is 2-2 in Title Fights and W. Klitschko is 18-2

I just don't get all the liston love around here sometimes.. but meh.. it's what it is. Klit.. CLEARLY has the better resume and career reign as champion, and I'm honestly not sure how it could be argued otherwise.
