1-Pernell Whitaker - Amazing talent and did the business

2-Manny Pacquiao - Will be top of this list if he beats Mayweather

3-Floyd Mayweather - More talented than Manny but what a ******. He's not helping his legacy.

4-Roy Jones jr - Possibly the most naturally talented fighter on the list bit Mayweather pushes him close. The same old story about his lack of quality opponents is always going to go against him. Crazy talent all the same.

5-Bernard Hopkins - He annoys me but one of the greatest fighters of the last 20 years no doubt about that. Unfortunately for him this list has a couple of potential Top 20 P4P ATG's.

Manny doesn't have to beat Mayweather to be top, he's pushing sweet pea close right now.

He's going to have 6 fights before retiring so aslong as he looks the biz, and the competition is good he'll be ahead of pea without PBF.

In terms of greatness, BHop all the way.

In terms of fighting ability, Pacquiao tied with Mayweather.

I JUST side with Pacquiao because of his achievements. The way I looked at is, who will be thought of highest in 50 years time?

B-Hop is VERY close behind though. A true legend.

In how many of those divisions did he actually beat the champion to become the champion? It's difficult to argue his resume is stronger than Hopkins who kept the lid a premier weight class for for ten years. Fighter of the year bull**** is for the fan boys.

fighter of the year is voted by the boxing writers association of america, so I don't think it's for the fan boys, it's for those who go to the fights and cover them ringside.

And like I said, Pac is 4 time lineal champ

It's not difficult to argue Pac's resume is stronger than Hopkins', it's actually very easy.

Place Hopkins 5/10 best wins side by side with Pacquiao, does any of his wins even crack Pacs top 5?

There's no argument. Top to bottom Pac has better wins and more depth.

His resume is considerably better than Pac's in my opinion. Pac is rapidly becoming the most over rated fighter in history. Sweet pea is getting way too much credit for his resume here as well. His resume was good but it's not better than Pac's or anyone else on this list for that matter.

The BWAA is a joke. Do you read many boxing articles? I do and trust me, the quality of journalism being put out by these professionals is severely lacking. Many of the writers in the BWAA are part timers and either ill informed on the sport or will write anything they are asked to for a few hundred dollars. Fighter of the year is largely nonsense and meaningful to the fan boys.

I kinda agree with the Sweet Pea comment. Although his skills were amazing, his resume wasn't, yet he is still second in votes.

Even looking at his highlight win:

Sweet Pea: Chavez (**** the judges)
    Pacquiao: Barrera
    Jones: Toney
Hopkins: erm... hard to say actually. I guess DLH :huh. Still a legend though.
Mayweather: ...again hard to say... Hatton or DLH?... maybe Corrales.

Trinidad, Joppy, ODLH, Echols, Johnson, Holmes, Jackson etc aren't better wins than Morales, Barerra and JMM.

I'd also say the depth of Pacs record is superior too.
