    Hearns? That's an interesting take.

I love Tommy. If you have time/inclination I'd be interested to see your rationale for rating his resume so highly. See if I can be persuaded to admire him even more than I do.

This was one was always going to be a uphill battle for Lennox. I wanted to see if a few people would make a case for him or have it closer. Seems not though.

Ya he's my fighter tbh but I am very critical of him up in weight. But to answer your question, no one that I can think of went up and down , up and down in weight for 18 years to take on big fights like Hearns did. After 147, he really never got to settle into one weight for a long period of time as he was always moving. That is incredibly difficult on the body and I admire Tommy always challenging himself. Pac was the same way going up taking on all comers. I know Hearns didnt win them all, but I will take that over a cherry picker any day of the week

heavyweights might get underrated sometimes but they also generally garner more attention than non heavies. So i think it makes sense.

Even if we ignore Manny taking on bigger guys and winning multiple belts, if you look at it strictly from a who defeated better competition theory, i will still favour Pac by a significant margin.

P4P means a lot of different things to different people and has many definitions. But going off a lot of those Manny should be the GOAT. While 6 ft 6 and up HWs like Lennox are sort of the antithesis of P4P.

Pound for pound was invented to bring balance to the perception of boxing vis a vis the heavyweights so I find it difficult to include heavyweights in pound for pound discussions if they never fought in another weightclass, especially superheavies like Lennox.

His early losses were important IMO he didn’t have a record to protect, Manny fought purely for money after that, whatever fight sold the best he’d go for IMO.

He had 2 carrers, same as Tyson did. 2010 and before , then after that when his life fell apart ... .Cant remember what fighters he ducked moving up ?? But fighting for only the money makes sense because Arum was floating his gambling debt

Ya Pac lost his way, he openely talks about it. HUGE gambling problem, was getting into Politics in the Phillipines, later became a Senator.. Boxing just took a back seat , marriage problems i believe,,, I think it was a bad time for him .. But he found God and we have a happy ending... I think thats how the story goes ,, but ya Arum was wiring money to every casino in town ..

Manny can add his name to the worst famous sports gamblers of all time .. right up there with Charles Barkley

I'm gonna try something just a little bit different. Rather than justifying where I place men I will be open about my own biases.

P4P's a lot like lineal, no authority, eye of the beholder kinda deal, built up on made up promotional nonsense taken way, way, too seriously and far by boxing fans.

For those who do not know, P4P originates with SRR as a means to promote the non-heavyweight champion as the major attraction in boxing despite his size. This is extreme exclusory of the HW division.

So it is really hard for a HW to make a p4p list I get to dictate. Because, regardless of what p4p means to you, what p4p is, is a promotional campaign by George Gainford to promote his man, SRR, duh GOAT, and even if I'm using it in modern terms and times I do struggle to shake the anti-HW approach. HWs do not belong. Better start below HW or drop below HW to get on p4p. Usyk, Holy, Haye, okay. Lewis, k2, Valuev, gtfo

Also like lineal, p4p gets posthumously awarded. Jesus ****in murphy are there heaps of dudes pre-Gainford who qualify as a p4p marvel. Your Fitzs, Gans, Greb, etc. So it'll be quit the ****ing list bro before i run out of talented sub-HW names to drop and have to pick a HW who spent their entire career at HW. At HW Marciano>Burns but in p4p Burns>>Marciano, **** ain't even close. Be a long ****ing list before I mention Rock, Louis, Ali, despite believing their careers superior.

So not only does Manny rate higher than Lennox, he's like 100 to 150 names over him. IMO. at p4p.
