Beat Hopkins? Considering the fact Hopkins was past his prime when he fought both, should make a good arguement that he would beat both at his best. I don't understand how anybody thinks Hopkins loss those fights. 1. you have to beat the champ convincingly and they didn't do that and 2 Hopkins clearly landed the more effective punches throughout the whole fight with both taylor and joe and neither one of them landed hardly any clean blows on him.
Bernard lost clearly against Joe, close but clearly. In my opinion Hopkins won the 2nd fight against Taylor and the 1st one was a close one for sure. I really don't see why the controversy in the Hokins vs Calzaghe fight.
Hopkins lost all 3 fights. 7-5 and 7-5 against Taylor, and 8-4 against Calzaghe. however he did enough in those fights to show that in his prime he would've beaten all three comfortably I don't think anyone can make a claim that Hopkins won more than 6 rounds against Calzaghe, and even that is a major stretch.
The first Taylor fight I thought that Taylor won on points despite being hurt way more throughout the fight. hopkins won his rounds big but just didn't win enough of them.
My scorecards: Taylor-Hopkins I: TAYLOR 115-113 Taylor-Hopkins II: HOPKINS 116-112 Calzaghe-Hopkins: HOPKINS 114-113 The Calzaghe fight could have went either way, and I never had a problem with the decision. Taylor-Hopkins II was almost borderline robbery.
That was my feeling as well. Taylor took all of the first 8 rounds, barring the 5th, which was clearly a Hopkins round. Then Hopkins dominated the final four, but he didn't win enough earlier rounds to seal it. The rematch, however, was quite a different story. :smoke
I believe Jermaine Taylor Nullified Bernard Hopkins better than Joe Calzaghe. You see Jermaine Taylor can actually box he is not one dimensional, and he is bless with speed of hand.
Taylor-Hopkins II: HOPKINS 116-112[/quote] I remember Taylor winning at least five of the first six rounds in the rematch and clearly the eleventh. You could argue for a draw, but nothing more.
Taylor Hopkins 1 : Should have gone to EX Taylor Hopkins 2 : Taylor by razor thin decision Calzaghe /Hopkins : Split decision for Calzaghe !
