He brought up MMA. Maybe he's a MMA fan trying to discredit boxing?

Interesting post, and despite all the ridicule you will undoubtedly get, not quite as ridiculous as its seems. In the early years of boxing, you did have guys who would move from the MW level all the way up to HW. I must say I like it when guys like Toney, Byrd or Jones try to replicate the sorts of achievements made by guys like Bob Fitzsimmons or Sam Langford 100 or so years ago.

Of course, they face more formitable challenges than fighters of 100 years ago, since they are often going up against guys who would have been regarded as giants back then. And these so-called super-heavyweights are more skilled than the few giants of the old days, like Jess Willard. In some respects, that makes the achievements of guys like Byrd perhaps even more impressive.

In sum, I don't know if your idea is really as workable today, at least on to the extent that it was 100 years ago. And for fighters below 160 or 168, I'd say its pretty much impossible. Even old-time boxing had SOME weight-classes. The problem today is not weight-classes as such, but that there are WAY too many.

I actually like this idea. They should also give the boxer's swords and other weapons, since the fights are sometimes boring when two very tactical fighters meet. Also, instead of the ropes, they should have barbed wire, in case on of the fighters wants to quit(and therefore making it impossible to see that he can lick the other sunavabitch).

i am a boxing fan but couldent tell u all 4 champs of the 105 pound limet Calderon is the only one i can name off the top of my head its not the weights whats the problem here its that there not shown as much

even though 95% of what he said is bull**** i really dont know why there is a 105 and 108 divison why are the smaller divisons have smaller gaps between weight from about welter up its a difference of about 5 pounds which is ok but 3 pounds is silly i think they could cut about 4 off

but the queston is what happens to the fighters and champ they cant just have there belts stripped for no reason its not fair :huh

Its not man vs animal. Its man vs man! Its the biggest and the best we are searching for. Its the champion of the world. That title used to mean something.
I want to see Hopkins fight Holyfield. Calzaghe fight Ibrgaimov and Mayweather fight Roy Jones. If pretty Boy is the best then lets put him to the test! Then I want to see the winners fight each other and not limit it to a contrived weight dividion.
Now boxing is a joke and the media hardly covers the sport. Boxing has been relegated to sites like this where there are 100 or so people reading this stuff.

Ya, I'm really in question. I want to badly know who would win between Pacquaio and Klitschko. Pacquaio's speed vs. Klitschko's power. Classic showdown. Any predictions? Klitschko's best chance is to probably go for an early low blow to establish himself and work from there.

Exactly my point. Pacquaio doesn't belong. He has no chance....zero...of claiming it. The thorobreds will win the race in the fastest times and midget ponies won't even show so who cares to watch the midgets? The same thing in boxing. Why waste time on the little guys when they are not even in the same league as the the real fighters who will win. Its like watching two little kids down the block pretend that they are fighters and then the big brother comes out and mops up both of them. Pacquaio is like one of the little kids. He has to get out of the way when the big guy comes out to claim the spot.
