You know that Golovkin's next fight is more than likely going to be on HBO PPV, right?
HBO is all in with both fighters.

There is a very genuine problem at LHW that outside of strapholders the division is essentially barren - of course prior to Adonis and Sergeis rampage of 2013 there were a few names, Cloud, Campillo, Cleverly, Bellew, Dawson were all considered top ten (hell, even White and Sillakh were on the fringes).

It's probably a bad to time for the TS to jump on the Kovalev bandwagon, cos there isn't anyone left for him to fight..Pascal looks unlikely since Duvas trying to take GYM to court, Dawson also recently signed with Haymon...Chilemba perhaps, Bute I guess (though I suspect he'll be looking at a coupla easier match-ups first), La Bombas moving up but he's Haymon too and I'm not sure how good he is anyway. Cloud will probably be on the radar be given that he's coming off 2 (in reality 3) big losses and never really won a fight at the top level, I'm not really sure what it'd prove - still, Tavoris is nobodies pushover so why not?

Funny thing is whilst I am also a Golovkin fan , I do find it quite amusing that Kovalev managed to essentially make himself into almost as big a name without the HBO promo circus that surrounded GGG - Kovalevs career has (until the last coupla fights perhaps) entirely consisted of fighting whoever was available at the time... often for next to nothing.

To be fair Kovalev caught a lucky break by landing the Campillo and Cleverly fights (he wouldn't have even been on the Campillo radar were it not for the Cloud robbery and Cleverly..smh..was looking to prove himself 'legitimate' or something LOL) but basically where Golovkin was given the big Hype before getting the wins, Kovalev gained the attention the old fashioned way and the hype followed after.

Of the two I suspect Kovalev may be the first to lose, but as long as he keeps on chasing the biggest fights and keeps up his balls to wall offensive style (and unique brand of smack talk) he's bound to continue being a fan favourite.

What do these guys have in common? Kovalev has better wins in Campillo and Cleverly but Golovkin knocking out Macklin early was a pretty decent achievement as well. They both deserve it at the moment. Don't see why it's got to be either one or the other.

Both deserve the hype and it's obvious that both seek big serious fights but can't seem to get others to sign. GGG finally scored a big fight but has to move up in weight.

    both are good fighter's.

Kovalev has fought better competition but imo Golovkin is clearly the better fighter.
