TheWeasle For me even though Gane clearly won the stand up moments he simply didn`t land enough to tilt the fight in his favour due to him being dominated on the ground so much, but who really won this tight contest? This content is protected This content is protected
Ngannou if we go by how fights are usually scored in the UFC. Gane didn't do enough to get round 5. He landed like 2-3 jabs which is not enough to offset being taken and kept down even with no follow up. If it were up to me, I would have given the 5th even. Should have been a draw.
This is why I loved Pride. In Pride, referee would just get them up and ask them to fight instead of stop hugging each other and do gay stuff on the mat on live television. Both of them deserved nothing since they forgot their balls back in the dressing room. It is a joke what MMA has become since the days of Pride.
Ground ctrl time wins fights. I've been betting on mma for a long time, and i always factor who will get the ground ctrl time. You cant win a fight being on your back doing nothing.
I felt Gane outstruck Ngannou on the feet in each round. He touched him more overall in my opinion. While Ngannou did take him down and control him, there was what? Two or three strikes thrown in all that time he was on top of him. Even when he took Gane's back it only looked like a couple of the shots landed. And part of the time on the ground was spent defending Gane's submission attempts. Ngannou was totally gassed. I felt it was lay and prey plain and simple.
